    I do not exist.

I enjoyed it more than the two albums that preceded it but I couldn't help but pine after their first few T&N albums. Regardless, a good way to finish. There's been a lot of discussion here about the theology.

A work colleague has asked me for some Christian folk music to play for her boyfriend. I have a few ideas but thought I'd throw it out here. Any really good quality Christian-themed folk music?

    The rivalry is back on

Run River North, The Oh Hellos, Future of Forestry, Gungor, Needtobreathe, and Fiction Family come to mind off the top of my head.

I've been realizing more and more the only metal core/post hardcore I've really ever loved so so much for the most part was Solid State and Tooth & Nail material for the most part. I still love the genre but there's not much coming out good anymore. Honestly nothing touches As Cities Burn, August Burns Red, Haste the Day, Beloved, Zao, Oh Sleeper, Norma Jean, and so on. It honestly makes me sad because Solid State and Tooth & Nail don't even put out good stuff like this anymore. I don't hate FFAK, Silent Planet, or Forevermore and all that stuff but I don't really like it and it's not really in the same vein.

Its honestly kind if upsetting to me.

Edit: Facedown records is getting there for me though. I never really liked anything on that label because all the bands were similar and it was pretty boring but Rival Choir are pretty good and Phineas' latest album is another great one.

Oh my god is that new Skillet album bad. Like, honestly, the worst thing I've ever listened to in my life. I've listened to Nickelback, Brokencyde, that new Say Anything album, and nothing comes even close to as bad as this still. I wish the barf face was still on this site.

Rant aside (sorry, there was no thread that made more sense than this one, and I needed to let that out), I'm also a little worried about that new Aaron Gillespie album. I've always loved Aaron's stuff, but I feel like he might be someone I enjoy out of nostalgia more than anything else now though.

Ha, I'd listen to the new Skillet album 10 times straight if the other option was listening to the Say Anything album once.

Oof, they're both awful albums, but I can at least mindlessly enjoy parts of I Don't Think It Is, unlike this album where it physically hurts my head to hear. I choose listening to neither ever again though. haha

I haven't listened to any Aaron Gillespie solo albums since his debut only had three or four good songs. Intrigued by the reworking of a few Underoath songs on this new one however.

As for Skillet, I haven't listened to them for about 10 years...

I used to love The Almost, but yeah, his solo stuff has been sort of underwhelming. I actually own Anthem Song, I just never listen to it. I skipped Grace Through Wandering entirely too though, and will probably just listen to this once on Spotify or YouTube and be done with it.

How is Fear Inside Our Bones? Anyone have an opinion on that record? The Almost has always been one of those bands where I listen and my response is basically, "Okay." But I've heard some pretty good stuff about FIOB and I haven't listened yet.

I bring up Andrew Peterson to an obnoxious degree. But he's my all-time favorite along with Sufjan Stevens. Definitely listen to both if you haven't (Seven Swans is the most Christian-themed Sufjan record fyi and it's so good). I second all the people mentioned here, but also check out The Gray Havens and ElisaRay. ElisaRay is made up of some people from The Collection (also amazing, but someone already mentioned them). Also check out The Last Bison if you want especially cinematic stuff.

His solo stuff and the most recent Almost record didn't grab me but I think Monster, Monster is crazy underrated.

It's pretty good. I don't revisit it much though, definitely my least favorite The Almost record.

Monster, Monster is my favorite thing Aaron has done, Underoath included.

you should enjoy at least half of these songs for the nostalgia, haha.
I enjoyed hearing those Almost and UO songs acoustic live. not sure how I feel about recorded versions.

Yeah, that's the thing, I'm excited to hear the songs I know, but have been totally underwhelmed so far. I've heard the Southern Weather one already (unless he redid it) though and still wasn't too big on it.

Thanks for this. I love Sufjan Stevens and The Collection. Great shouts I'd not thought of. I've seen Andrew Peterson mentioned here a lot but not given him a proper go. I hadn't heard of the other artists so I'm going to have to check them out. The Last Bison sound particularly interesting.

Are you familiar with The Oh Hellos? Just found out they're touring the uk next week so I'm going to go with my wife. Probably more of The Collection vibe.

The Last Bison are great! I think I first heard of them from a review on the old site -- and their live show is top-notch.

"Dear Wormwood" was in my top 10 of last year. Brilliant album. Would love to see The Oh Hellos live! Let me know how it goes.

Also, fyi on Andrew Peterson, "Counting Stars" is his most purely folky album so you might want to give that a shot first. "Light for the Lost Boy," "The Burning Edge of Dawn," and "The Far Country" are all my favorites though.

Caught Oh, Sleeper in Seattle last week. It's basically just Micah and Shane plus the drummer but they put on a killer show.

Finally listening to new Switchfoot. Pretty disappointing so far...:( not sure how it happened, but I feel like each album is worse and worse from them.

Completely agree. I still go back to Monster, Monster from time to time and have always thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s the high water mark of what Aaron has worked on for me.

New Andy Mineo track Candy Rain is fire.

New My Heart to Fear EP shreds.

Check them both out on sound cloud.

I really like John Mark McMillan, but this is the strangest music video, even if only because it frustrates me with the aspect ratio.

I really love this song musically but don't understand the lyrics completely. Need to immerse myself in them more. Video's a little strange but it's pretty darn creative.
