Ah it’s our fault for not liking it lmao. What is criticism if not cynicism persevering :’(

I will say, to those Emily VanDerWerff tweets & some of the comments in here, I don't think a better executed version of the town stuff would only be interpreted as hostages/abuse/villainy. People's bad decisions affect those around them irl, & there are a ton of greys between "innocent" & "villain." If they'd made some better small decisions leading up to the finale, & then made a significantly better finale, the townspeople stuff would've been a lot more grey & human.

...also, comments complaining about good critical discussion in these threads always sucks. And, spending time dunking on that bad take also sucks, lol. (Honestly questioning it is cool, though, 'cause it's still actual conversation.) Let's maybe not weigh this thread down with too much nonsense?

It’s simple really. Have Wanda realize what she’s done, free the townspeople, have Agatha do something worse to the townspeople, and have Wanda save them and apologize. But that’s not what they have done and she’s not a clear “good guy” at this point in the MCU.

I think it’s natural when someone sees something they enjoy be torn into for them to react. Of course I’m guilty of that. IMO I feel there’s a lot of nitpicking that’s not warranted. But then again, that’s because I love it.

Marvel tried something a bit different (for them) and it worked. They have a framework (hi AOS fans!) and they mostly stick to it and it works. It’s what brings me back and I thoroughly enjoy it.

People critiquing a show has *literally* zero to do with you, and it should not affect you.

That would work. But, I think lowering the suffering factor for the people & playing more with the tension of her not wanting to lose Vision & the kids is a more interesting angle.

Like, this is made up comic book magic nonsense, lol. It can be whatever they want it to be. In the most famous past example of Wanda making a new reality (the House of M comics), that reality granted wishes for most people involved, & leaving the illusion was heartbreaking. I would've liked to see some of that here.

Wanda splitting the hex, stopping because her family was dissolving, & then later working herself up to letting go was good stuff. Personally, I'd rather fix the stuff around that thread, than throw it out for something too straightforward.

I think that would have been less interesting honestly and I'm happy with the way it ended.

Hmmmm, good call, I forgot about that aspect of the comic series - that would have played so much better if they weren't planning on having Wanda be the "villain" at the end.

It shouldn’t, no. But we humans are weird creatures and our brains do strange things we can’t always predict. Especially when it’s to do with something you love and have a strong connection to.

The whole show is an exploration of how people cope with grief and loss and how people can affect and even harm those around them, intentionally or otherwise, through that process. Wanda just happens to have superpowers so the harm she inflicts is greater than what the average person can do. But the show is never once saying what she did is ok. All Monica is saying at the end is she understands how Wanda could have done what she did given that she may have done the same thing were she in a position to do so. Like goddamn the “witch vs. witch climax” stops dead in its tracks so that the show can literally force Wanda to deal with the consequences of her actions and what she’s done to these people. At the end of it all she’s a pariah who has to go into self-exile partly out of shame for what she did. It’s all right there, I guess you just have to want to see it. Like I honestly feel like I watched a different show.

I mean, I don't know what to tell you, if your day is ruined because someone critiques some Disney property you like, well... that's giving too much power to other people over nonsense you have no control over IMO, but that's just me soooooo

cool to know that if I ever imprison a town, a little bit of "self-imposed exile" will sooth the troubled waters lmfao

Also goddamn speaking of people unable to discern context clues, “Agatha All Along” was saying that Agatha was the one who was messing with things inside of the town and manipulating Wanda to try and get her power. The song sequence literally shows you what specifically was “Agatha All Along”. The show never once says Agatha was responsible for the Hex. Like seriously come on.

I'm not even trying to be shitty, if people on chorus criticizing WandaVision really is affecting your day, you may wanna step away from the discussion. I can't imagine how that'd be healthy.

IKR?? How can they finish the whole of the MCU and never come back to it with that cliffhanger?!

Again, what more did you want *in this specific episode of television* than what we got? You want an extra scene of Wanda stopping at a newsstand and seeing her face on the front over of every paper? Sitting in a cafe with a hoodie on and watching a news broadcast about how every federal authority is looking for her? What would have been satisfying in that moment that wouldn’t have felt stupid, tacked on, and unnecessary?

Your only answer before was literally “I don’t know”.

I don't know, I'm not a fuckin WandaVision writer, I'm just some asshole who watched this stoned at 3:30am and then went "hmm. that wasn't as satisfying as I hoped." lmfao

I mean there is some serious CinemaSins level “criticism” going on in here. Like just because we haven’t seen ALL the consequences of what Wanda did yet doesn’t mean there will never be any. She’s about to be the second lead in a whole other movie that’s coming out within a year! What is going on here, I mean really.

A miniseries that is part of a huge fucking universe with other films and tv shows that all interconnect and play off each other. Its the MCU FFS :crylaugh:
