Seen the name and been meaning to check out. Just haven't had the time. It's good to know they've got the Nate Johnson seal of approval though.

I need to just run through the list of everything Kurt Ballou has produced and get to listening to it all at this rate.

When I see that name on a record, I know it’s gonna sound great. Modern Steve Albini

Just giving a nod to Ethan McCarthy of Primitive Man for the artwork.

Corey Taylor and Rob Flynn should start a hip hop collective.

Even as the resident Corey Taylor apologist I........... can't defend that.

I’m not saying it’s out of the realm for the man per say but it’s just a strange thing to come across.

It's better than Texas Hippie Coalition at least.

It’s cool they got Lzzy to take part. They are a pretty huge band now.

Any thoughts on new Architects here?

I didn’t like it personally. Still love the band though. Just knowing what more they are capable of and have released, it’s hard to separate the previous releases in my mind to say “they’re doing this to try something new and have fun” when it’s so much more boring and simpler of a style. I remember when they last tried this it didn’t really bode well with their fans, so I’ve been curious if it’s as dividing as last time.

I find it pretty samey. I think it’s got some gems but it’s shrouded in a lot of “fluff”. I’ve read a few reviews after listening a couple of times and it’s definitely one of those love it or hate it albums.

  24. equating quality to commercial success is always a fool's errand but this record is shaping up to be the band's most successful record yet

I wrote about this in the architects thread but I've had the benefit of listening to this record since October so I've been able to let it sit and simmer - it's a grower for sure - I wasn't super into it after my first few listens but now it's one of my favorite of their records

not exactly a high bar to clear though lol

yeah that song/band is pure dogshit and then some. i've learned not to expect too much of anything corey does outside of slipknot but man. this is even more embarrassing than the nostalgia critic thing.
