Devo is such a badass move and I'd love to see them booked for Riot too if it happens.

when shows finally do come back in like 2030 or whatever, this thread is gonna be a fun little time capsule of tours being rescheduled ad nauseam.

 

Imagine going to the Hella Mega tour NEXT decade...

 

If that's the case, maybe Weezer will put out a good album this decade since they've been failing at that for a bit.

Weezer put out a great record in 2016 and a very good album like three weeks ago.

 

I was just about to say...EWBAITE was great and OK Human is good too.

 

I'm in the camp that they haven't had a good album since the 90s, but yeah, opinions.

 

I'm always surprised when people say that. Yeah I know opinions and all but they have put out 12 albums since the turn of the century and it's surprising to me when people can't find one album out of those 12 that they like haha. If you haven't checked them all out I suggest doing so, they aren't all terrible.

 

I'm sure as a whole there are some diamonds in the rough, and I probably should give the new album a chance since the baroque pop aspect of it sounds intriguing. But literally everything I've heard from them this millennium just fails to live up to those same highs. Mind you, that's primarily singles most recently anchored by the Africa cover, but all of just feels uninspired. Plus there are tons of other artists I'd rather give my attention and money to.

All that being said, I'll definitely give their upcoming metal album a listen because I'm curious and a masochist.

 

OK Human is genuinely a great album

 

I second this. Everything Will Be All Right In The End and OK Human are top 5 Weezer for me

 

"I haven't listened to anything but the singles so all the albums must suck" is certainly a take.

 

Yeah in just the last 5 years they dropped White, Pacific Daydream, Black, Teal, OK Human, and are about to drop Van Weezer. And two of those were great!

 

I've listened to more than that, but it's a generalization. Everything I've heard in passing just...hasn't stuck with me. But I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is for a deep dive. Where should I start then on their material post-2000 then - Everything Will Be Alright In The End?

Edit: Everything Will Be Alright In The End was decent. The back half of the album was better than the front. Cleopatra and Foolish Father were standouts to me. Quick reaction is a 6/10. Probably wouldn't skip half of the tracks if they popped up on shuffle, but it's probably something I won't actively revisit.

I apologize for my initial tone if it came off as dismissive toward Weezer. I'm legitimately not trying to downplay their music. I'm just not a big fan and can be a bit snarky at times.

Not at the moment, but I know Make Believe would be low on it!

Doing a discography run now and listened to Red today. I’ll report back when I’m done.

 

Make Believe seems to be you love it or hate it...

I loved it.

 

When Make Believe came out it was the worst Weezer album at the time, but now that they've released some considerably worse albums it sits around mid-tier I think

 

Make Believe is very good. I'll hear no other arguments.
