Jesus. Yeah, fuck this guy. I regret having defended his music.

 

The good news is it sounds like country radio and streaming are reacting quickly and pulling him off playlists, which I didn’t really expect. I bet some of the radio corps will let him crawl back and mount an apology tour, but we’ll see I suppose.

 

So we started today with some indication about how far country music still needs to go. Here’s some strong proof of progress:

It's all damn impressive but this was the big single off the first record .

 

Their newest one from last year, called Skeletons, is just a big old good time. They clearly made it with hopes of playing it live, but it’s such a blast that it’s almost like you’re hearing them live anyway.

 

Wallen getting dropped and TJ coming out feels like a pretty great day in Nashville.

 

Yesss to out queer country artists! Never listened to Brothers Osborne before but started today. Good stuff.

I’m checking this thread out because the biggest name in country is now an open racist and it’s making me realize I have zero knowledge about this genre. I turn to the country station sometimes and cringe so bad.

It's 200 songs, one apiece from 200 different artists who are either country, country-adjacent, or have crossed into country at some point. It's a lot of music, but I think it's a pretty good rundown of the modern artists in and around this scene, and maybe a good way to get a sense of what you do and don't like in contemporary country. A few people have gone through and just kept tabs on which songs/artists they liked, so they can then go check out those artists.

Haha just used an app called Songshift. Took all of about 5 minutes to do.

 

I have that app too because I’m trying to make the switch over to Apple. But I have so many songs in my Spotify library and it doesn’t always match them correctly, so it’s turning into a bit of an ordeal

 

This is excellent. Fangs and Untitled #12 hit that perfect blend of country/americana/rock that I love. His music is exactly what I'd want to hear as an opener for a Brian Fallon solo show.

 

Yeah it can be hit or miss sometimes. Normally it's pretty good but it can get a little dicey when you start getting into live albums and exclusives and what not

 

LOVE this new song "Wyoming" from Jo Smith - having spent time in Wyoming and the town of Cody, the lyrics hit

 

I think I was that dude, and this playlist is legit, haha; lots of great artists I discovered through this list

 

Might be due for an update soon!
