Watched Our Friend last night. I don't cry much in movies, but man, what a tear-jerker.

The only better news would be if it wasn't another reboot, but I'm still excited.

  6. There's no way Justin timberlake's new movie is any good but as anyone watched it?

  7. It’s exactly what you expect it to be. It’s heartwarming safe and completely predicable in every way.

I’m enjoying the Cecil Hotel doc. Had no idea about this case, and I had moved to So Cal at the time right before this happened. I remember the whole Gardner incident which they mention. His chase ended in Big Bear not far from me. That probably overshadowed this for me.

Definitely agree with the filler, but the history of the hotel/skid row is interesting.

lol of course of Richard Ramirez stayed here. Jesus. Idk after the Night Stalker doc the way it impacted me this is also grabbing me. Just with the vibe of LA underbelly/criminal history is so creepy.

If it was a doc about skid row or the hotel I wouldn’t mind that filler but I wanted more stuff about the actual cases. In the end it would have only filled up about 90 minutes so they added a bunch of other stuff.

Btw not sure if anyone has Hoopla through their local library but there’s SO much Ken Burns on there. I’m halfway through The National Parks: America’s Best Idea and it’s phenomenal

Really, really hated the last ep of the Cecil Hotel doc. Just messy all around and a ton of wasted time. Gave too much screen time to internet losers who were wrong

Not a Movie Of The Year contender but still thought it was great. A tearjerker and heartwarming, but yeah also predictable.

I enjoyed the Cecil Hotel doc, but yeah agree that it was way too much filler. I can't believe they kept teasing that couple from England as if they were gonna play an important part of the story.

I remember this case when it happened 8 years ago, and on the little information I gathered from the news stories, I figured it was an unfortunate case of a mentally ill person having an episode that led to an accidental death. I was shocked at all the conspiracy theories that were popping up.

I kinda wish the doc delved more into the psychology of these reddit "detectives." People so disconnected to the case or the characters, who somehow convince themselves they've solved a crime that didn't exist. They were convinced that the death metal guy was the murderer, and got him dropped from his label....when all they had to do was 5 minutes of research to see that he wasn't even in the country when she disappeared.

Really enjoying Pretend It’s a City. I like that it doesn’t just cherry-pick wit and bon mots, but shows her cantankerous and snobbish sides too. Give the whole spectrum.

i've watched two episodes of the Cecil Hotel thing and probably won't watch the last two episodes. it's just all over the place and doesn't know what it wants to focus on while also taking it's time considerably to show or say anything.

i did laugh and find it baffling that the tourist couple drank and showered in shit-colored water before complaining for a new room. i get being frugal but for fucks sake if WATER tastes funny or looks like anything BUT WATER, you complain asap or go buy some bottled water in the meantime at the very least.

Re-watched “Michael Bolton’s Big Sexy Valentine’s Day Special.” So good. Crazy to have a Scott Aukerman/Tim Robinson/Lonely Island collaboration.

I haven’t not and probably won’t watch pretend it’s a city but I did somewhat enjoy the SNL spoof of it the other week.

It was modern SNL in a nutshell. Kinda funny initial premise, no clue how to write a bit from it.

Not at all surprised that Cecil Hotel has a ton of filler after seeing it's from the same people who made the Bundy Tapes documentary, unfortunately
