According to setlist.fm, MO has never performed either The Wolf or The Mistake live...two of my favorites on Black Mile, so I got that goin for me Friday night.

Hopefully there's a special pressing of the new record available for Patreon members

As someone who owns a complete collection, every time they release 3 different variants my wallet hurts so much.

What are the chances the album is called: It's the End and The Beginning

I bust out laughing just imagining myself in the passenger seat, looking over at the pug driving the car saying, "I'll take those odds."

    Everyone has it but you.

Just kidding. It could be a couple years away. But you have it because you wrote it.

It sounds like it’s coming in the very near future. You know what’s not happening in the very near future? Touring.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

MO and Foxing teasing new material simultaneously has me weak

I’m prepared to be wrong here, and hope to be.

But, I’m also kind of a pessimist disguised as a realist. Or something like that.

Lead time to concerts is always a funny thing and very dependent on the artist. Big pop stars sometimes tour nearly a year after they release their album. Black mile dropped in July and the tour started in September.

I could see them dropping this month and then setting up a tour for Sep-Nov, hoping that touring comes back by then with the vaccine rollout. Unless they have a mega mega hit I anticipate they’d be playing the same venues regardless. Maybe this gives them more time to grow.

  16. From Patreon it sure seems like they are well on their way already into whatever comes next after this album which has likely helped shift any thoughts of holding this one back until late in the year, especially with touring still being a giant unknown.

interesting. Was this talked about on the pod? I’m tempted to up my subscriber level for a month or two leading up to the album.

Sounds like manorch8 is either still Andy trying to throw the scent off the trail, or someone who recently lost all access to information from the inside.

There hasn't been much next album talk at all on the podcasts. Basically just. It is finished. They worked with Catherine and Ethan Gruska and a few other people. It is part of the second phase of MO, following Black Mile. They are able to relax now and work on other people's stuff and features and produce. Nothing about them working on an LP7 or something already. And Andy has only made tiny hints about maybe more RA,GC. No Bad Books talk.

I still feel a simple EP 2 new songs (maybe one from the album and a bside), plus a little something extra would have went a long way in keeping fans on both sides of the opinion at bay. Worked between records before.

I feel like more than most bands I listen to, MO does a good job at keeping people interested between albums. They’ve put out covers, singles, live/ acoustic versions/ remixes of songs, plus lots of tours (pre COVID), Andy’s demos, and now the live show. Not even mentioning the Patreon due to the paywall. I’m not sure how long the albums been done, but I don’t know that it’s been completely done for all that long. Now it seems like the album announcement is coming soon. I feel like they are crushing it and don’t really know that an ep would move the needle much.

They definitely keep busy. Christmas album, Patreon, guest stuff. I think being stuck between the finished album and BMTTS more mid level fans would benefit from this. People who just check out new releases.

They did release I Know How To Speak as a single in between and that is easily a Top 5 MO song.

I think that model works. Hardcore fans will always be interested. Keeping those mid level fans interested is hard. Usually touring and a Christmas thing would cover that. With not touring and an album waiting in the wings, I don’t think generating a little buzz about something new would hurt.
