Yeah this album immediately clicked with men, where as PFA was hit or miss initially.

    This album is beautiful.

Standouts for me are My Limb, Asystole, Good Grief, and No Use I Just Do. Real solid all around.

Here’s a fun playlist I made imagining what a live set might look like:

i’ve been meaning to tell you

my first listen was on a chilly sunrise walk, and it was perfect. first thing to go, my limb, good grief and just a lover are standouts. i’m really surprised with all the ways she was able to use her voice without really belting or using the higher notes in her register. need this on vinyl.

Yeah, this is way better than her debut imo. I do wish she got a little weirder (or darker) with it, kind of like "My Limb" hints at with it's more sinister vibe. But this is great, miles ahead of PFA.

With PFA, I was not a fan of the direction she took most of those songs (aside from a few like "Creepin'", Simmer, etc).

PFA was in my top 3 of last year. Idk what you all are talking about. Having said that, this is really great. Will have to sit with it more.

We reach for the longest shadow

I don't know how to properly describe this, but this feels less experimental and more straightforward which leads to it feeling more immediate on the first pass at least.

EDIT: I'm trying to not make any Folklore/Evermore comparisons but Trigger is making that hard.

I think I’ll wait in vinyl before making a huge purchase. I want those joggers and the blue cross shirt though.

Second playthrough and this album will never ever get old to me, I can already tell. Beautiful and haunting. Inordinary made me cry, of all songs lol

Whew this is much more emotionally draining than PFA isn't it.

PFA gave me something to unpack all last year, felt like I took something different away from that album every time I listened to it. Feels like this album is gonna be the same way. Kind of amazing to hear, almost visualize Hayley's journey through all of this.

Might as well share the #MWE tweet I did about this.

Only time will tell how this compares to Petals, I can't get on board with the people saying this is instantly better. Really can't wait to sit with it some more though.

Edit: please ignore the wu-tang tweet lol, is there a way I can separate the relevant tweet from the thread when posting here?

I can't stop thinking about how she says "life began in seventh grade" in Intolerant and then the next song HYD she says "my life began the day I met you". My initial thought was that HYD might be from her mom's perspective of that time, especially with the line about sitting at the table with just the kid. But I could also see it just being two of different turning points in her life, fitting the descansos theme.

This is excellent. I like how different from Petals for Armor it is, and I'm glad we have both. Inordinary is so good.
