Plans is actually my favorite DCFC.

It was Clarity and it was pretty good

  3. Narrow Stairs is such a strange album to me because, for all of the reasons mentioned, I absolutely should love it. And I do love about half of the songs by themselves. But the album just never comes together for me, no matter how many times I try.

We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes is a 10/10 very important album to me and one of the best indie-rock albums of the early 2000s imo. In fact, I think I could use it tonight

  4. "Brothers on a Hotel Bed" is their best song though, Plans is a very good album. The entire discography holds up incredibly well until about NS. Even that album and C&K have redeemable qualities, but Kintsugi is pretty bland

i guess that's my unpopular opinion for the day

DCFC won me over at Made in America and I was gonna go home and listen to their albums but then Beyonce came out and I was just like X-(

I feel like I don't even have to mention Plans when discussing their great records. That album blew up and went platinum for a reason. They got extremely good at writing pop songs and put several of their best head bobbing radio hits as well as several of their most emotionally direct songs on that record. It's the DC album that needs no introduction because of course everybody loves "I will follow you into the dark."

Elliott Smith's best songs aren't on any of his actual albums

I really don't like this song. That's an unpopular Death Cab opinion.

lol the first album I heard from him was a mishmash of B-sides and unreleased demos that I assume became New Moon, except I got it off of a Myspace group in like 05 and the tracklist was different.

If I were to make a greatest hits from 1999 to 2009... as in my favorites from each album

    SIDE ONE (DIY/indie label period)

    Something About Airplanes:
    "Champagne from a Paper Cup"
    "Your Bruise"
    "Amputations"
    "Fake Frowns"

We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes:
    "For What Reason"
    "Lowell, MA"
    "Company Calls"
    "No Joy In Mudville"

    Photo Album:
    "We Laugh Indoors"
"Why You'd Want to Live Here"
    "Styrofoam Plates"
    "Debate Exposes Doubt"

SIDE TWO: (more polished, poppy, major label sound)

Transaflanticism: (this album is that good, the title track is amazing and still not one of my 4 favorites)
    "The New Year"
    "Title and Registration"
    "Tiny Vessels"
    "We Looked Like Giants"

    Plans:
    "Summer Skin"
    "Crooked Teeth"
    "What Sarah Said"
    "Brothers on a Hotel Bed"

    Narrow Stairs
    "I Will Possess Your Heart"
    "Cath..."
    "Grapevine Fires"
    "Long Division"

Those of you who haven't listened much to DCFC should check these out. Wouldn't have to be in order but it's cool that way cause you literally hear Chris Walla get better and better at production and mixing record to record

Read along with the lyrics next listen, that's what I was doing when I fell in love with that record. Best lyrics of the whole discography on Photo Album

The lyrics are great to read but I don't think they fit the melodies all that well. A lot of them seem forced into the songs to me.
