I’m also seeing tweets like this from folks in the scene so it seems like it may not have just been Charlie he was abusive to.

 

I feel like it’s been known that the guy was an asshole for literally years. Maybe not the extent of the abuse, but remember all those stories of him like quitting or breaking up the band in the middle of shows? The signs were there.

I remember those stories, I feel like it was always just blamed on him being wasted? Turns out a drunk asshole is actually just an asshole.

Yeah, but she's *paralyzed* and if you're going to diminish that it's only a matter of time before you let her be murdered.

That's anyone who diminishes severe emotional abuse by comparing it to sexual assault. It's all disgusting and traumatic. It should be hated and mourned over and those who have been abused should be fought for. Period. Also, you're the one who's making the comparison... I've not seen anyone else equate the two.

I've not been hurt badly, thankfully, but I've experienced enough forms of emotional abuse to be able to imagine how much worse it could have been (and how horrifying it must be for others). I didn't have to look for it, it found me. I'm thankful for faithful friends who listened to me and helped me. Maybe try being one of those when the opportunity presents itself?

I was hella put off them when I found that out sometime in between the release of their first and second albums for that reason, and apparently I dipped at a good time because fuck that.

 

yeah I think he was in a decently known punk band in the 90s, then disappeared for like a decade, then beach slang.

can't remember which band, may have been foxing, tweeted like 5 years ago after beach slang had to drop a tour because some members quit, something to the effect of "guess your favourite overly nice musician is actually an asshole, surprise" and they didn't mention who it was, but everyone knew they were implying BS.
