Had he just said that, I don't think anyone would care. He said a variety of other inflammatory comments that caused discussion. That's why people care. Also it's a music forum built for this very reason:

 

Yeah I've yet to get a response on what was up with the whole complaining about the tbs/glassjaw discussion and acting like two posts in response to his Kanye post showed some glaring issue with the thread. But I sleep

 

I mean I get that, but I don't feel like someone needs to be berated for not liking his music. Like, sure, I definitely don't see it as garbage, and I'd disagree completely with that assessment, but I don't think it's warranted to talk to him like he's stupid for not liking it the same way as everyone else

The Glassjaw thing, though, was dumb and unwarranted, so yeah

 

I'm totally okay with the discussion that was had. I'm not mad, lol. I knew what happens when you post these types of things.

 

What would you like me to respond to? Or is that even directed at me? I'm enjoying the conversation, it just moved fast so sorry if I blew you off.

Yeah, I also responded directly to the post, and my original comment, which basically amounted to "here we go again...", was in reference to how that same "gotcha" argument comes up over and over and over again. This seems like a silly thing to fixate on, as far more aggressive things are posted every day on this website and the aforementioned recycled argument is extremely tiresome.

 

I apologize if it feels recycled to you, but I've never participated in that discussion and I feel like it's a valid discussion. If you don't want to, then just don't, ya know?

This kind of response and posting is actually something that repeats itself every day on this website as well, and should be addressed just as much as the far more aggressive things.

And if something is recycled, saying "woo boy" "wtf" "jesus" etc doesn't suddenly make it disappear.

 

eh i mean that's cool i just feel like we tread and retread a lot of ground and never get anywhere. and also we tend to get like pretty vitriolic.

 

there have been good conversations had in here. sure, at times it comes down to "i dont like this artist everyone loves" but more often than not it's provoked nuanced discussions.

but of course there will always be some that spout nonsense with smiley emojis but oh well

is it unpopular to love System of a Down? i feel like they've fallen out of favor or at least out of public consciousness because they came out in a time where major label metal bands were a dime a dozen but they've remained one of my favorite, most thoughtful, and most enjoyable listens

 

i actually listened to it so many nights when i had to stay up all night studying or doing homework that it triggers that nauseating feeling in my stomach. i need to decondition myself hahaha

Me. Have they always been considered Numetal? I never did know what to call them back when I listened a lot.
