  8. If we ever needed more evidence that all variations of “Means testing” ends up being garbage, we got it in spades.

At least when it comes to welfare, there's the (bad) argument that means testing serves to save resources by only going to the most needy or whatever. Here, the end result is just throwing thousands if not probably millions of dollars worth of literal pandemic-ending vaccine in the trash lol

Am I misreading this? The crux of their argument is that the law Pennsylvania made to expand absentee voting during the pandemic doesn't count because the state constitution would need to be formally rewritten?

  12. Yeah. It’s tough. Independent online blogs are virtually impossible to make work these days and they bums me out since it was my favorite part of the internet / my entire like last 20 years.

Honestly, what the fuck did he expect to happen when he posted a pic of him there on Instagram. Morons are the ones that go to parties, and idiots are the ones that post them on social media.

you asked a question, I answered it.

I like a lot of the stuff Tulsi does, mainly the things you mentioned, but a lot is also hella sus.

Tulsi, Assange and Greenwald? If you're going to troll, at least put some effort into it

It's not like they're bringing up invalid points, and we should all hold our representatives to higher standards.

the Assange stuff I am not well informed about but the Syria stuff is def. fair play.

And may we never forget that, when given the opportunity to impeach Trump, Tulsi voted "Present." Like, she's definitely good in some areas, but with her willingness to pander to Trump and his base for some unknown reason, let's not pretend that she's some kind of "leftist"

I mean fundamentally my issue is that you shouldn't be putting too much stock in any one politician, be it Tulsi, AOC, Bernie, whoever. None of them are flawless. They are public servants, and entirely expendable ones.

That said, if you're going to put one on a progressive pedestal I don't get it being Tulsi. She's a career politician who has had a very comfortable time with the Dem establishment.

She has an incredibly shaky history with LGBT matters. Yes, she has apologised repeatedly for her homophobia from the early 2000's, but her recent moves towards TERFism demonstrates to me that she is not a reliable ally.

She's anti-imperialism, ok. IMO that's a low bar for leftist credentials, should be a given. Then there's this little tidbit from wikipedia:
    Screenshot_20210103-143150_Samsung Internet.jpg

And now, as I mentioned earlier, in the middle of a pandemic she's spending her time caping for a lame duck Republican president over Section 230, which if overturned will, from what I understand, just give more power to those companies that are already monopolising the Internet.

Sure, I'll concede that she has some decent positions on some issues. But I dont see how anyone can hold her up as a bastion of leftist virtue.

TL;DR: Kill your idols, but if you don't do that at least pick some better idols
