I want a partner who likes Netflix marathons.

 

I just use the same joke opening/pick-up line and it's about 75% successful in getting a message back. After that, flirt a bit, make an offer to hang out to do an activity we both have a mutual interest in, get their number, confirm date and time. Online dating, more so tinder/bumble/swiping apps, it's a numbers game. Just shoot whatever comes to mind (as long as it's not creepy, cringey, objectifying, etc), and if they don't respond, move on.

 

And chill marathons

 

Do all of y'all have such interesting lives that adding someone else to them weighs you down? I don't understand where the idea of it being boring comes from. Personally speaking, telling each other new things/stories about each other can also become really repetitive after a certain point, and often times the mutual silence can be the most comforting part of a relationship. I feel like you get what you give.

 

Yeah, I like the part of relationships where we are both on our laptops and there's an understanding that there isn't a need to talk.

 

I don't need pick up lines, cause they make me cringe. Also I don't mind whoever, male, female, or any other gender, telling me if I'm cute/pretty/attractive/beautiful etc, as long as it doesn't get sexual or creepy. I appreciate compliments and I don't find them oppressive or objectifying.

What makes me uncomfortable is immediate sexual comments or suggestions, randomly sending dick pics, or only being interested in sex and not actually wanting a conversation.

Just tell me you're interested or you want to go out some time. Like, be decent! But. You know.

It seems hard for a lot of guys. Just thinking about a few of them immediately makes me eye roll.

 

For me it's more I'm fine doing my own thing and being alone and when I'm with people I feel like I have nothing interesting to say so why bother saying something just to say something

 

I feel like part of being in a close relationship - romantic or otherwise - is getting to a point where the pressure to keep it interesting fades. If you are, awesome; if not, whatever, it's understandable.

You may need give up a few options of things that you would only be able to do by yourself, but ideally the goal is to gain other, better options that you could only do with them (e.g. sex vs. masturbation (not trying to speak universally with this example))

A couple of the girls that I met from tinder and saw for a bit showed me some of the messages they've received from dudes on those apps and it is absolutely horrifying.

This is honestly one of my favorite things. I have always been comfortable with silence which isn't always the best thing for interpersonal relationships, but when you reach a point in one with someone where it's not awkward to the other person, it's great.

My ex admitted to me today that he really does miss me and that he sees it as a competition of who can move on first. I thought it was funny because I haven't really told him that I am sort of seeing someone (I don't want to tell him until I know it's going somewhere and right now I have no fucking clue).

nah... and I'm relieved, in a way. I can't even believe I'm saying that lol. But if he tried to get back together right now I would be like no thank you maybe later. Cause I am enjoying being single and meeting new people/ exploring things with this new guy for now. I mean later on down the road idk how I feel but right now no I'm not looking to go back into an unhealthy relationship with a pathological liar lol

 

funny that you post that because it came on the last time we were in the car together (when we went to MCS if anyone remembers that), and I started LAUGHING and I was like well this is appropriate

edited to add more detail: the song came back on our way HOME and it was like bittersweet because the night itself was so awkward...we were in a weird nostalgic place trying to come to terms with our relationship changing/ending, and then we were fighting on the way back and the song came on and it was just perfect tbh
