Win the game in hand and we're 2nd in the league. That's absolutely nuts considering how reliant on one player we are. Can't be understated just how badly Bruno is carrying this team.

When they're on, they look class. But when they're off, it's nightmare stuff.

I remember Sheffield United beating us right after the restart and that team was on fire. What the hell happened?

 

Could well be that the rapid promotions caught up with them. They only did two years in the Championship before coming up into the Premiership. They were carrying a lot of momentum, but I don't think they've gone wild with signings, so are a lot of the squad still from their League One years?

It's not uncommon for a team to come flying out of the Championship and then get found out in their second year. This one does seem a particularly bad fall from grace though.

 

Losing their main CB Jack O'Connell due to knee surgery has had a massive impact imo. Feel quite sorry for them as they were excellent last season up until the restart where they dropped off (when O'Connell first got injured!)

 

been dreading it ever since they got promoted.

 

Everything they do well, we struggle with. However, their suicidal high line will be very nice for Rashford, Bruno and Greenwood. Might even be time for the lesser seen Dan James!

 

Their man marking should be ideal for the mobility of your attack.

yeah, the bigger issue is getting the ball from our defence to attack though. Neither our defence nor midfield are comfortable under pressure.

 

Yeah it would make sense to play more direct initially. Maybe change to a diamond and play two up front to occupy their defenders, with runners arriving from behind.

 

Would be a great game for Van de Beek. He's probably our most press resistant player and loves those late runs into the box. I'd say passes like Lindelof's for our first goal yesterday will be where we get most joy against them.
