I’m paying $650 for a 2br/1bath with a garage in the suburbs. The only good thing about Ohio is the low rent. Most houses in this town are 750+, but are bigger than mine.

I pay $1200 for a 2 BR apartment in Madison. I want to buy a condo, but the property tax here is outrageous. Between condo fees and property tax, it's about $500 per month. So it's basically paying rent anyway, PLUS a mortgage.

 

I pay 1500 for a room but I have my own bathroom

Oh okay yeah that's a nice area. I almost ended up in that neighborhood actually.

 

There's a house in my neighborhood for sale that's 90K for a 3br/2bath, and my montage would be around $500. Everything else here is terrible, though.

 

My friends are moving from Houston to Athens and almost cried when they looked at what they can afford in one versus the other. And the best part is it's the same amount of time to drive to Atlanta as it would be to drive to anything in Houston anyway lol

 

I have literally never heard anyone say anything good about living in Houston haha

 

pittsburghs affordability seems to be 1 of the best kept secrets around. i got a pretty good deal on the place im renting in the philly burbs but if i found a good job in pitt id be very tempted.

 

My current roommates lived there. One loved the culture but hated everything else. The other literally has been told that driving in Houston exasperated his PTSD and has been advised to never return. So yeah haha

It’s pretty tight depending where you are. It’s just massive.

 

Yeah some of these mortgages are crazy. I’m going to stay at the place I’m moving to for at least a 2-3 years and save up as much as possible and find something we really like and isn’t crazy expensive. I love my friends house and it was about $165,000 and their mortgage is around $800 i think? It’s 3 bedroom 1.5 bath.
