I don’t think it’s a stretch at this point to say that you need a black person at the top of the ticket if you want to maximize black turnout in more urban areas. It’s not impossible to do so but it definitely helps. Identity isn’t the end all be all but it definitely matters to a not insignificant amount of people to see themselves in who they’re voting for.

 

The job is hard. The hours are ridiculous. You see shit you won't forget. And they're making less than 20 an hour. (in my area, the one manager of an ALS ambulance service is getting $18/hr)

Edit to add: you can make a nice living for yourself, but you have to work family/marriage-ending kind of hours.

 

Feels like everyone will have to explain to their kids what elections used to be like ...
