It’s weird because I don’t like Welcome to NY at all but as an opener it’s great especially for that album.

yeah you can put WTNY at the bottom of 1000 lists but it's still one of the best opening tracks literally ever

Also have I mentioned how much I love Happiness? Probably a top ten song on the two albums.

I felt a little disappointed with this album on first listen but it has gotten better all weekend. Song writing on this thing is incredible

The rate at which this thing has already grown on me is immense, haha. I was never disappointed but my first thought was, “nowhere near as good as folklore.” But...it’s closer than I first thought! The awesome bridges and “special moments” are a little less flashy but it’s becoming more and more obvious that they’re certainly there.

I do think the second half of folklore is inferior to the first, but I do really love two of the last three tracks.

TOLERATE IT is incredible! First of all, it has a 5/4 time signature, which i find super interesting (specially for a pop star), second is super emotional, the lyrics are top notch, and the "A doll's house" by Ibsen trope has never been used better.

This is currently my favourite i think (followed by marjorie and evermore)

After listening to this album a ton this weekend, and writing about it, I’m pretty confident it’s my favorite Taylor Swift record since Red.

I don't know if it loses steam completely, but Folklore feels its length.

Okay so I’ve been thinking some scattered thoughts abt these two albums as companion pieces, and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to say which I like “better.” Folklore was what I needed a few months into quarantine- a fun, shiny, new distraction. The songs hit hard and fast and it was so exciting to have something to puzzle over and be enamored with. Evermore feels much more like the album I need almost a year into this bullshit; settled and sad in a way, but comforting.

Overall, I think that her lyrical and experimental swings are heavier on Evermore, and I love to see that. I hope that this period of artistic expansion and reflection has made her realize she really and truly can do WHATEVER she wants and that she continues to capitalize on it with a myriad of collaborators. She’s still my favorite heroine though, so I do hope she continues to have personal songs alongside the storytelling songs.
