I dunno...makes sense that way to me. They’re both like a cup of hot coffee to the face.

Not Funhouse, but for what it’s worth, Bob Rock’s likened their approach to The Stooges too:

Metallica's 'St. Anger' Snare Drum Sound 'Kept the Band Together'

I love the production. I love the 15 minute drum sound, the bleed, the looseness, the repetition, some of the vocal takes are so raw.

I rarely listen to the whole album cuz its so punishing, but on like a 100 degree summer day going for a long walk and taking it all in is a pretty cosmic trip

I’ve yet to penetrate Load/Reload. There’s maybe a handful of cool songs and the recording sounds great, but them songs is dulllllllll

  4. Whichever one it was on, Unforgiven II is the only song I listen to from those albums.

i have an abridged playlist of load and reload that imo would make a great metallica record

hardwired was the most consistent thing they put out since the black album (not counting lulu, which is in its own universe of quality). i like death magnetic a lot though

st. anger is like avant-garbage. i think i agree with the person who said it is both bad and good, and i think at least one of the songs is amazing but i can never remember which one it is. the length of st. anger is also like an attack ad against pro tools

ppl talk a lot of shit about the snare in st anger for obvious reasons but I want someone to take the kick in hardwired to task

the production/mastering of metallica records since and including st. anger has been almost entirely regrettable yes

Load and Relod are both about 2/3 excellent and 1/3 filler. The thing that makes me rarely go back to Load is how much better the Load songs are on S&M than on the original

Never given Load a proper listen, but always enjoyed a lot of the stuff on Reload. I remember when The Memory Remains came out and it blowing my 14 year old mind.

Didn't take much at the time, though. Richard III by Supergrass also did around the same time.

I thought Folklore would be the album that turned me on to Taylor's music but I didn't care for it outside of Exile and Peace. listened to collabs on her newest and thought the one with HAIM was pretty bad

That is probably the most predictable thing you'll ever see me type on here.

There are some really good songs on Folklore, although I don't think it's quite in the realm of being a great album.

Man, if you don't think the S&M versions of "Outlaw Torn", "Hero of the Day" and "Bleeding Me" are awesome, I don't know that to tell ya.
