It’s not a reasonable critique if it’s one you can’t satisfy. At least not as the only one.

Until the day I wake up in a world of eternal utopian bliss & perfect harmony, I cannot be politically satisfied. Being politically satisfied with less would be a personal failing on my part.

(& not like the current bar set by the Democratic Party is even remotely close to being mistaken for “good” & “just,” lol. It’s just “better than the more openly fascistic & bigoted other party.”)

That’s fair. It doesn’t answer my original question though!

“What’s the worst thing about the restaurant?”

    “It could be better.”

It just isn’t a pick that I feel will take on big, systematic issues and entities like the energy industry, the healthcare industry, or systematic racism. I don’t expect this admin to do those things so it’s not surprising, and it’s not an offensively bad pick like Neera Tanden, but when we say I wish it was a more progressive pick it’s not like a moderate southern democrat pick at the head of the justice department doesn’t have consequences for the kind of systematic injustice that is occurring in this country. For example, frankly it’s relatively easy to take on something as grotesque and obvious as the KKK. But even wiping them out leaves an entire system in place that is crushing black Americans in poverty. A system that moderate dems have not shown an interest in dismantling. So forgive us for being a little disappointed even if it is worlds better than a Barr justice department. Hopefully he comes in and proves us wrong.

if you’re mad about Doug Jones maybe getting AG, considering the very awful and very clearly worse easy pick Biden could have made that his VP is related to, like idk what to tell you man.

Nobody said they were mad and all of these picks could be worse. I don’t think that makes a pick good.

I’m really not a big fan of this post, man. This is gonna sound harsher than I mean it to & might be unfair, but tbh, viewing political choices like restaurant choices makes me concerned about how seriously we’re treating this, how well we understand the impact these things have on people’s lives, & what sides each of us is really on.

Like, my frustration over things like healthcare & the police & whatnot is a completely different category of “frustration” than when I’m complaining about the next Spider-Man movie, y’know?

Agree with all of this. But my main reason for being OK with Jones is that, as you said, Biden has little interest prosecuting anyone who has any real power or influence and also that we knew that he was going to put a bunch of conservative leaning people in his cabinet. If one of those people made a name for himself prosecuting racial violence, something that he'll certainly be called on to do more of in the next 4 years and that his predecessors all mostly failed to do, I'm not going to complain that much. As you say, though, it is really all relative

I guess one more thing I wanna throw out there on this topic is, I’m not looking to this Biden administration process for hope or happiness or whatever. I’m paying enough attention to see where things are going, but this isn’t what’s gonna bring joy to my life. I’m not naive enough to expect that. The most I’m doing is rooting for the most victories & fewest evils possible with these people in power at this moment in time, while looking to the better people on the margins trying to push conversations further.

But, no, Biden ain’t ever gonna satisfy me. Only Jesus, my family & friends, good comic books, Squad tweets*, & dope K-pop music videos can do that.

*...and if the Squad somehow got into power, they’d be my new enemies, & I’d have to get joy from the next generation of good political tweets.

Is anyone else shocked that we haven't had updated information on covid surface spread in several months? We still don't know how long it lasts on clothing for Gods sake, other than "it probably doesn't last long on fabrics"

Damn, so I'm leaving my groceries and Amazon packages untouched for 3 days at the end of my hallway for nothing I guess lol

    EDIT

The only thing I don't understand about this article is why it says washing your hands for 20 seconds is still necessary when there is no evidence of surface spread. Are my hands not surfaces?

Yeah I’m all for keeping things clean and washing your hands still. Probably really helps with preventing other illnesses like cold and flu too. But in terms of covid, again still good to wash your hands and sanitize, but you shouldn’t worry too much over contracting it from touching things.

So i tested positive yesterday and the thing that strikes me as the strangest part is the doc just handed me a note saying "if any of this happens, go to the ER" and then a note for when I can return to work. Nothing about following up testing or confirming I'm past it or even contact tracing or anything.
