I posted something about indoor dining being irresponsible and my friend who is a sommelier responded about how it’s important to patronize the restaurant industry because of how many people are struggling.

Feel like an asshole basically telling him, “hey sorry you can’t make rent but you’re just going to have to live it.” People are dying but of course people don’t want to have their livelihoods threatened.

I don’t think I’ll ever trust any institution after this— this has been a failure on every possible level.

I get where he's coming from but it's not our responsibility as citizens to patronize and keep businesses open and that line of thinking really annoys me

You’re right! But of course you can see why so many are itching to get back to work. There’s truly only one appropriate response to COVID and our government has decided they’re not going to do it.

So what does everyone in the service industry plan on doing for the next few months? Just got word that Western NY restaurants are going to takeout only indefinitely...

With as slow as it’s been, my claimed tips over the past two weeks are very little, meaning my unemployment is going to be next to nothing. So do I default on my private student loans or get evicted?

    These are fun choices...

They aren’t wrong — if all schools actually follow the guidelines. I am sure many of them are not.

These dudes just need to kiss already, sick of this “will they or won’t they” schtick. It’s like season 2 of new girl

the work required for hybrid learning is awful and, considering the amount of work I’m already doing, forcing us to be less safe and do more work is going to be close to pushing me out of the profession.

they’re also conveniently cherry picking stats, as there have been plenty of places where school spread has happened, and then states like Florida are just completely covering it up.
