I had to get my license renewed. I made an appointment online and called them when I got to the parking lot.

Yeah I lost my license literally days before it expired and had to go get a new license. Show up in line super early, get your time and then go back an hour earlier than your time.

Finally got my negative COVID test results from last Wednesday. Feels great knowing I basically had to do half of the quarantine I’d have needed if I were positive while waiting (unless I wanted to play Russian roulette with strangers’ lives, lol).

Definitely got the beginnings of “who even said you needed to get tested anyways” in the final day of waiting. Still so hard for some people to wrap their minds around.

i dunno, I saw a lot of right wing chuds just denying the ability of a stimulated economy from benefitting more people yesterday on Twitter. So much of their mindset was concentrated on “I have to pay for this so therefore there is no benefit!”...but then they’ll say trickle down economics benefits everyone lol

Yeah Delaware is pretty affordable for it's location. Our population is growing partially because of a booming latino population but also in part because a lot of people move here from NY, PA, etc because it's super affordable.

Now we're in a more "working class" area (Claymont, Joe Biden represent!) but we're in the "nicest" neighborhood in this area, and our place was super affordable for the size of the home and the niceness of the nieghborhood. But if you take this house and drop it in one of the nicer zipcodes that are 5-10 minutes away from here tops, it would have been unaffordable for us. The price difference between this neighborhood and the one maybe 5 minutes up the road from me (sans red lights) is a solid 100-200K difference.

I wish we could get into one of those neighborhoods because my kid(s) would obviously probably grow up around some better influences than some of the folks in my neighborhood now, but, it's a increasingly younger and more diverse neighborhood as educated millennials can't afford those nicer neighborhoods thanks to student loans lol. Since we moved in a few years ago, a lot of the new arrivals to the neighborhood have been young families/people probably on the verge of starting a family.

  16. We have new restrictions going into place tomorrow, so currently I see a bunch of restaurants posting "LAST DAY FOR IN DOOR DINING, COME DOWN AND GET IT WHILE YOU CAN" which I find ... very ... stupid. That said, when they announced the zoo and art museum would be closing again in a week I also know people that had to go that one last time as though the virus knows when it can and can't attack someone based on the time of day I don't know I'm so tired.

Yeah, restaurants here were forced to do outdoor seating and what do they do instead? They put up enclosed tents with tables inside.

I mean it’s hard to make a generalized argument about what specific crowd we’re talking about here. Someone *I* would consider a “chud” is basically beyond help and I don’t think there’s any point in trying to discuss politics with them in the first place. But as loud as those types are, I feel like they are still a pretty small minority. The majority of people are not right wing psychos, they just reflexively buy in to right-wing framings because that’s all they’ve ever really been presented. Plus it’s just mentally easier to take how you act on an individual, interpersonal level and apply it to a broader system than it is to consider something like “maybe this much bigger, macro thing acts in a way that’s somewhat counterintuitive to how any individual acts” (eg, thinking of government debt the same way you think of your own personal debt)

Florida is encouraging face mask, but not mandating them. I work in a restaurant and a lot of restaurants are open for thanksgiving, so I assume they’re not shutting anything down until after the holidays. Crazy how people are willing to risk the lives of their families just to eat food together.

Oh yeah a lot of restaurants here have what they advertise as "heated outdoor dining". It's an enclosed tent with heaters, how is that any safer than inside?

looking at the actual poll, it appears that is the poll of all people

    Republicans only was

    Trump: 45%
    Pence: 22%
    Romney: 8%
    Cruz: 7%
    Rubio: 5%

    everyone else below 5%

also 36% of the country and 71% of republicans think the election was fraudulent :-|

The biggest, loudest far right jag offs aren’t gonna be won over by anything ever.

It’s more so about making the case for the undecideds, as in, people who are relatively politically disengaged or kids in their way to adulthood or self-proclaimed “moderates” content with the status quo.
