Considering cases are up 50% over the last week and we went from 2500 cases in a day to 5000 today within half a week, this really doesn't seem like enough

Just say some variation of, I dunno, “create better systems to handle things the police is inadequate for, & fund some of it with excess money funneled out of bloated police budgets”? I dunno, this isn’t my field of expertise, but basically a stronger version of that. With the ability to go deeper into the disproportionate funding the police get, the corruption that goes into that, etc...

And, if asked point blank if the goal is to get rid of the police... say, “if what we create is efficient enough to make the police redundant & obsolete, yes.”

And, a note on the messaging thing: Democrats do have some say in that. When activists create a new position for people to have on these matters, & then Democrats throw that position under the bus to appeal to “public opinion,” that actually itself shapes public opinion. So, if you lie in the wrong ways about this... you’re actually making it harder for yourself.

Yeah I mean noones going to listen to the private residence one. The gym one I don't really get either not like people are partying at gyms. The only one I see really helping at all is the restaurant / bar one.

    Demilitarize the Police.

Get rid of the “few bad apples”.

Direct the funds to social and mental health services/other trained crisis responders.

    Rebuild the crisis communication infrastructure.

Yeah there is no way to really enforce how many people are gathering in a private residence. It's really just based on personal responsibility, and if we know anything, there isn't much of it since private gatherings are where most outbreaks are being linked to, at least I know that's true for here in NJ

AOC vs Schumer for a Senate seat is a win win for Republicans, they either prove AOC can't appeal outside of her district and get her out of the House, or they lose Schumer who they don't like anyone and can grift on AOC's rising power.

She should get him to retire and recommend her for that spot though.

We were all worried about election fraud in this thread at different times, closing stations and messing with the mail, or out right rigging.

Imagine if Trump won under shady circumstances, and Biden just said this is clearly fraud and I won't concede. But then also he never did anything and lost every court case.

I think I would just start hating Biden for doing nothing about it.

    1. This gives me calm that his followers won't buy this shit/won't do anything when he leaves but feel defeated
    2. This gives me fear that Trump might try to do something while he's in office still. How strong are our institutions?

Even if that were the best way to proceed, it would require it to be a value shared amongst Dems in power, and it’s just not the case. Almost all of the Dems in power have no interest in fighting climate change in a meaningful way, or getting rid of the police. And they never will. It’s not that they are non-ideological: they are hyper-ideological, and their ideology is neoliberalism, which resists the left as hard or harder than it resists the far-right.
