This thread for the last 10 months: I wish people listened to medical experts about covid.

this thread now: trump is going to win al of Philadelphia because turnout was actually -40%, I don’t care that the experts are confident!!!

I can answer that definitively! Philly surpasses its total 2016 turnout by noon on Tuesday.

"as of 5:00 PM on 11/2/20" <-- I'm sure there were ballots coming in after that time.

The coutnies around Philly are all pretty Biden friendly and still have chunks of vote out. Bucks County, for example, is still a light shade of red. While the demos there are changing, HRC won it in 2016 and I'd be hard pressed to believe it'll be red this time. That and DelCo are gonna give Biden some good numbers

    i hope you're right.

and even if the number of votes left is right, if spoilage is low, Biden is still in decent shape. I'm probably just being overly paranoids. If Philly had reported the same percentages but added 100k votes instead of 20k I'd be feeling a lot better right now.

yeah I found this. I found this. It assumes a) all of the uncounted mail-ins will be counted b) they'll go at the same rate as the rest of the mail-in vote for that county

Even ignoring late ballots coming in, they still have Biden winning by 90k

So... encouraging. But still a bit too close to comfort.

We’re going to be caught in an endless cycle of claiming illegitimate elections back and forth now just to dilute the truth. They feel like they have a right to say it because Dems **said** that Trump was illegitimate. With significant evidence, without conviction due to obstruction of justice. False equivalencies. Disgusting

I may be misremembering, but didn't someone on CNN last night say they believed Erie would flip for Biden based on the mail-in vote margins being close to 4:1?

I know it's not Philadelphia, but anything helps.

kinda like how republicans said Obama was this hyper partisan who ruled by executive order, and then Trump was a hyper partisan who ruled by executive order.

Admittedly, given the number of times the American electoral system has failed us in the last 20 years, I think the anxiety is somewhat justified. Plus, unlike with COVID not believing the experts only has the effect of raising our blood pressures. So I for one will continue my path of intellectually listening to the experts while emotionally freaking out until Biden pulls ahead in PA

Republicans haven’t made a good faith argument in the 16 years I’ve paid attention to American politics. It is wild to me why we need to entertain any of their stupid arguments past telling them to shut the fuck up

Sure, but then the question becomes will those rates in PA actually stay the same.
