I've been listening to Copeland all week. Have recently gotten into In Motion. Still need to check out Eat, Sleep, Repeat and Beneath Medicine Tree.

You're in for a treat! ESR had its 14th birthday on Saturday!

Did you start with Blushing or an older album when you first got into Copeland? Just curious. :-)

In Motion will forever be my favorite, even though I know ESR and YAMS are technically better albums, I have a closer connection to In Motion.

    IM > YAMS > ESR > BMT > I > B

It's funny how much differently others would rank the albums ;D they're all great, so whatever ;D In Motion would be the most nostalgic as for me as well, but it wouldn't get to my TOP 3 in the end.

Now, I still have 10 songs left off of that Glaswing stock collection. Wow ;o

ESR was the 2nd album I got into. Whenever SRC Vinyl repressed it I picked it up and never looked back

Great weather for copleand. I am probably an outlier in that I really love Medicine Tree and In Motion the most and don't get into their newer and softer stuff much. I like a little of ESR and Sunshine but not to the extent of the first two. Not much after that though I've tried and tried.

I think they get better as they go up to YAMS, and then it’s just really difficult for me to rank YAMS, Ixora and Blushing.

Also Copeland is one of the only bands I can think of where I legitimately love all their albums.

Definitely one of the hardest discographies to rank, but my order would probably be:

    YAMS
    Ixora
    ESR/Blushing
    BMT
    IM

I don’t dislike In Motion, I just have much stronger emotional attachments to all the others.

I did not realize that! I started with You Are My Sunshine just before Ixora came out and fell in love. When Ixora came out, I did not like it (shame on me, I know) and then fell in love with Blushing when that came out. Since then, I've also fallen in love in Ixora, and In Motion has been great so far.

YAMS was my entry point, too. I think it will always be my favorite for that reason. Glad to hear that you're enjoying the rest of their discography that you've heard (and Ixora too, after giving it another chance)! :-) Did you listen to the Twin version of Ixora yet? Such a creative idea!

Don’t think I can rank these haha. So tough. Eat Sleep Repeat is my favorite though. I remember there was a brief period of time where that was album was going to be called Elegance For Transience. I like what they ended up with.

The end of You Have My Attention and California are probably my favorite moments from their discography.

Anyone listen to those instant live recordings they used to put out?

those were awesome. I wish that was still around

YAMS is definitely my favorite too, with Blushing coming in a close second. Ixora Twin is very cool. I still prefer Ixora original but I'm glad the twin version exists

I have one on CD actually, because it was a show I was at. Oct 23, 2005 in LA

In Motion was my entry point, and I went to BMT right away as well. I definitely agree that parts like the ending in "You Have My Attention" were so spot on, I love it till this day, but I'm glad they've evolved.

Too bad we didn’t get any kind of deluxe version of Blushing, after the really nice CD/DVD box they released for YAMS and the Twin version they made for Ixora. They’ve always had the most creative special editions.

Apparently The Vanguard Room recorded the live show they did with the Imperial Symphony at the end of 2018 - I was always hoping they'd release that as part of a deluxe version.

Love them all but if I could only have one I’d have to go with YAMS I think.

  25. these days You Are My Sunshine and Ixora are my two favorites and the rest of them all hover really close together below those.
