That's a scary thought! So far I haven't seen any evidence that they've been partisan or corrupt. I hope that the vast majority of Postal Police are apolitical civil servants looking to do their job and the right thing. It's possible I'm underestimating how fast Louis DeJoy has been able to mess things up.

He's probably fine but I don't think they learn anything except to blame these groups if they do lose

 

I'd be interested in seeing a poll on what people think should be done because I imagine that people overwhelmingly do not want that. Feels like the longer this goes on for the more people just have the mentality of, "if you are worried stay home, the rest of us will do as we please"

Sorry to bump a comment from this morning, now that the thread’s progressed multiple pages beyond this throwaway comment.

But, I just wanna emphasize that your suggestion is for a billionaire, who lives on the opposite side of the country, to gentrify my community. And, the motivation is to increase the odds that shitty Democrats can win the presidency, without tying that better chance to better policies for working class people.

I know it was just a throwaway thought, with no basis in any reality, & you don’t have any actual power or input into such things. But, still, I can’t let that comment go by without saying... respectfully, fuck you.

yup. it's not a mandatory lockdown here yet, but im only allowing one person in our office starting today until things get better. colorado is 2 weeks away from being as bad as it was in late april/early may and we may go under stay at home again by thanksgiving.

The problem is if we start imposing lockdowns again, which are going to have to do if we want to lower our numbers and not overwhelm our hospitals again, we desperately need another relief bill with stimulus checks and relief to small businesses. I know of a restaurant in my town that said if the state continues to only do 25% capacity for dining, then they are going to have to close for good. I imagine many other restaurants and businesses are in the same boat, and will be even worse if you make them shut down.

If we force the businesses to close we need to pay them while they are closed to make up lost revenue and give money to people to stay home. Congress won't do shit though
