I'm pretty damn confident no more than one track on here (leaning towards none) will be on the actual album we get

I kind of just assumed we were getting two albums and this was the first one. I doubt any of these songs will be on the album.

At least we can fawn over Lori McKenna and Lydia Loveless together. Haha

I do at least appreciate that despite the fact that you're absurdly picky about R&B and hip-hop, you do always at least listen.

I should listen to more, I know. I usually just stick with the bigger artists or the ones getting a lot of buzz. It's just super hard to find time for everything I want to check out, especially these last couple years where I've been going super deep on country stuff.

That Lydia Loveless album, though. I was much less of a fan of the last one than you were, but I'm totally on board now.

Honestly, I'm someone who's a fan of the genres and I have trouble finding more than just big buzz artists to check out at times. I'm just way less tapped in than I used to be. Which sucks.

And yeah the production was not caught up with the writing and vocals on the last one, but that's been remedied this time.

It's eye-opening when you can listen to hundreds of records a year and still only feel like you're scratching the surface.

That's definitely a big part of it. I was listening the other day in my iTunes and it went into the last record and it's just a huge, obvious shift.

how dare frank ocean release something that doesn't have any choruses and floats around an atmosphere! what am I suppose to do? listen to it as one whole piece of music rather than easily digestible sections????

Are people not allowed to say they dislike something? I don't really understand the point you're making.

I don't think it's wrong to say I'm bummed that I can't (yet) listen to this in a more easily digestible manner. I'm sure it's his vision or whatever but that doesn't mean I can't say that I'd like it laid out by tracks and in my phone as an album

yeah i mean if frank was really against it being heard as separate tracks there probably woudnt be a tracklist, its clearly an acceptable alternative.

that acoustic song (think it's Rushes.. Rushes To??) is incredible. When he brings the power into his voice he executes the melodies and run so well.

"Rushes To" for sure is one of his best vocal performances ever. Maybe best, except for that live performance he did of "Bad Religion" on Fallon that broke my heart.

I wish I didn't tune into the stream last night because then when I finally hit play on this properly, from the beginning, I knew most of it. My hopes for the second album or whatever mostly come from wanting to experience the album from front to back the first time.

Pitchfork is supposed to have their best of the 70's coverage happening all next week. Curious to see if they rush review this for tomorrow or if they actually let it sit for a week+.

yeah seems like every time something new comes out there is a vocal minority that tries to equate disappointment with entitlement which is pretty bad for discussion
