I mean I’m not talking about the underlying ideas, which 99% of the time are trash, just the quality of the rhetoric itself.

 

yes we can was everywhere, you’re fooling yourself if you think it wasn’t a very effective line. nothing he said before or since has come close.

 

Hope and change was also successful and that optimism is why people love AOC

 

I don’t deny that it was effective, I just think it speaks directly to how uninteresting everything he said actually is in hindsight

 

I can't help but think of Bob The Builder whenever I hear that "yes we can" slogan

 

I would love for Trump to try to criticize Obama for plagiarizing Yes We Can

Yes We Can is just Si Se Puede? Like give Obama’s team marketing credit but it’s not like it wasn’t a common political refrain for decades. He doesn’t get credit as a writer for that shit lol

 

Mayor Pete is a great foil to Obama bc he’s like the epitome of how empty all of that stuff sounds when it comes out of the mouth of someone who can’t convince you he’s human

Yeah our county is on the “watchlist” again after they opened some in door dining again. Walked by a few of those places today and I don’t understand anyone’s need to eat inside right now. It makes no sense.

I hope you’re right for sure. As I said earlier I’m kind of convinced right now that the politics of being 10 days out from election are actually preventing shutdowns right now and some of these states will hopefully make moves in the week or two after the election

 

I would so love for you to be correct, but I cannot for the life of me understand how the situation we are in in this country looks the way it does and people are still fighting about the fundamental common sense science basics like wearing a fucking mask or if this is just like the flu.

Going with the Titanic analogy, this is like after the boat has hit the iceberg and is sinking and it is sticking straight up out of the water and then it breaks in the middle somewhere and the back half slams back into the water and then starts to rise up again and get pulled down by the front half, only the captain is sitting there saying "The ship is not sinking! We were sinking before but now we've turned the corner! We're gonna be sailing normally in like two minutes!" and many, many people on the ship are listening to him and believing him and ignoring what is happening around them I guess because he's the captain and many, many people are just stupid.
