For sure, anyone saying what will and won't be exclusive or if it's all or nothing or whatever with any amount of certainty is full of it. However, there is a pretty big double standard on what is expected of Microsoft here vs what most people would just assume is the default for Sony. Microsoft is under no obligation to make ANY Bethesda title available on PS5 or Switch, but there's this weird idea that I've heard from a lot of people online that they have to or are expected to do just that. I feel like that's more what those tweets (at least the second one) were talking about.

 

I have to imagine Sony and MS make most of their revenue from software licensing rather than on hardware

 

I’m not saying Microsoft is under any obligation to make the games multiplatform. They spent the cash, they get to do what they want.

All I’m saying is, if those games aren’t going to be exclusive, there is zero reason to announce it right now because as long as there’s a question then people will still panic-buy Xbox consoles to get access. And if they ARE going to be exclusive, why announce it now and get all that bad press when they can keep playing coy and leave the question open as long as possible?

It truly could go either way right now as far as I’m concerned.

There will inevitably be a backlash when they announce exclusivity, whether that is fair or not. They don’t need bad PR of any kind right before a console launch. That’s just basic common sense.

 

I feel like the worse PR is not having Elder Scrolls 6 and Fallout 5 on your console but it seems I'm fucking confused.

 

People are going to be mad when Microsoft says the games will be exclusives. It’s not fair but, I mean, I don’t know how else to say it.

for my part, I’m going to get an Xbox eventually, just not until closer to when those games are going to come out

 

Gamers are weird. There’d be some outrage within 5 seconds about Microsoft being the boogeyman and not caring about all gamers.

I’m sure Microsoft knows what they’re planning on doing with the bigger titles. If they’re gonna be exclusive we’ll know when we actually find out more about Elder Scrolls/Fallout.
