That's the theory, but there are efforts going on right now to throw out a lot of early ballots, particularly mail-in, for largely arbitrary reasons. Things like signatures not matching or ballots arriving after election day even if they were mailed before that. There are multiple lawsuits being fought right now to make sure every mail-in ballot counts, but a lot of them are not going well.

Yep! It's a good sign, but it's absolutely not indicative of anything as Republicans are much more likely to vote in person this year. Also, a huge portion of Dem votes are shifting from in-person to mail-in/early vote, so we literally have no metric for what that's going to mean for estimating Dem turnout on Election Day. The GOP is also starting a bunch of lawsuits to throw them out, any of which could be disastrous to the final count for Biden.

Generally speaking, Democrats win when turnout is high, and by all active measures turnout will be at a record this year. That said, Trump's combination of authoritarianism and victimhood activates something in GOP voters that turns them out too.

welp - I suppose I'm glad I've decided to mask up and go vote in person on election day but what a dystopian hellscape world we currently live in.

I triple-checked that I did everything right and dropped off my mail-in ballot in person in Philly, and I was STILL nervous that I'd fucked up. I'm a pretty conscientious voter, can't imagine how a lot of folks are feeling. It's very frustrating.

Couldn’t read this link ‘cause NYT paywall, but googled the story to find details elsewhere to see if this included my county.

It doesn’t. But, it does include Allegheny County. Y’know, Pittsburgh.

Who Is Midwest Direct? Here’s What You Need To Know About The Company Being Blamed For Ballot Issues In Western Pa. And Ohio – CBS Pittsburgh

“Midwest Direct, the company that sent nearly 29,000 ballots to the wrong people in Allegheny County, is also being blamed for ballot issues in Westmoreland County and Ohio.”

    Not great, etc.

I voted overseas to Allegheny. I think my ballot was fine, but were you able to see your ballots in the online tracker?
I've also requested confirmation by email but they haven't answered. I sent it over 3 weeks ago.

Props to you PA folks for voting asap. Since it's a huge tipping point state I think your vote is like four times more influential on election outcomes than the average american.

they are gonna successfully steal this thing, and the story will be "the polls were wrong again" and not "the polls show that the election was stolen"

When I voted yesterday (mind you my county has about 108k people total, and about 70k are registered) I had about a 20 minute wait. Biggest hold up was people ahead of me, they were a couple, apparently changed their minds about their mail in ballots they REQUESTED. Its a whole process to turn them in/change their method of voting. With only 2 judges working, it just took a little bit of extra time. Thankfully, everyone was spaced out.
