Love to learn no lessons from 2016

 

if I’m reading this right....meeting with Biden will be a controversy but otherwise, they seem to basically be saying “hey there’s a politically motivated investigation going on” which ended up being true no? Lol

obviously that won’t be how the media reports it but you know

 

lol yes all of this as well. The way that story is reported seems very ehhhhhhh

 

I’m baffled that anyone is even paying that NY Post story any attention.

The whole point of debating is that both candidates answer the same questions for the same audience. Scheduling separate town halls at the same time on different networks completely defeats the purpose. Everything is so stupid all the time.

 

I could never tell you what show or story i've read about it but I'm pretty sure there's been some looks into how the GOP picked up on being "pro-life" in the late 70s specifically to go afte rreligious votes and such and use abortion as a wedge issue. Maybe samantha bee did it? But that could also have been about the NRA and gun control, I may be mixing my stories up

 

It’s just a slightly new twist on the same old bullshit. The whole thing boils down to getting rid of that prosecutor did not help Burisma, it actually brought more scrutiny on them. It’s all fucking Russian fed bullshit.

 

I wish.

 

right, plus when Trump’s town hall gets higher ratings from people who want to see what “wacky” stuff he says, he gets to say he beat Biden in the ratings head to head and campaign on it

 

I haven't been paying that close of attention to the SCOTUS hearing, what's the deal with the Republican senators that tested positive last week and they were concerned they weren't going to have enough bodies present for the confirmation? Haven't heard anything about that since the hearings started

 

Really don't think anyone cares about Ukraine, Hunter Biden, or impeachment at this point. It's all a wash to most people.

 

What part of MA? I'm in West Roxbury and spend a good amount of time in Needham, Newton, Waltham and Watertown and it's surprisingly LITTERED with Black Lives Matter and Biden Harris signage. Was very surprised by Needham.

 

They've just shown up at the hearing anyway. Talking maskless. You know, sane stuff

I had a funny thing happen this morning in my PLC meeting. PRob gonna post this in the teacher thread too.

So if you know anything about social studies teachers, you probably realize they lean more right than the average teacher, and that is certainly true of my department. We've got two guys that are staunch conservatives, well 3 now that the new guy is here.

So we're discussing how our district hasn't formalized the plan to force us back into the buildings yet but there is a rough timeline we were emailed and it sounds like we all have to go back into the buildings on October 28th regardless of when our particular cohort of students comes back. I speak up and say it's stupid to bring us all back into the buildings to potentially expose us without any academic benefit to the students since, you know, we'll still be teaching virtually. The older (read: mid to late 50s maybe?) conservative guy seems to get a little bothered by this and says "Well, no, it IS academically beneficial because the students will see us teaching from our classrooms instead of our living rooms and that will make them take it more seriously." And I was like "ehhh I really don't know if it'll make a difference." And he all of a sudden flips out a little bit and says "Well then, if that's how you feel I agree with Akerman! If you can't do the job then don't do it!" (Ackerman is a school board member here who got in hot water with the community in August because he replied to an email about covid concerns and said teachers should just find another profession if they don't want to return in person)

So, okay. I laughed it off because I don't care to get into it with the guy. Flash forward 30 minutes later, the other staunch conservative guy gets into the meeting after not being there for that exchange. Eventually we circle back around to the same discussion because multiple people in my department have school age kids and they're not sure what they're gonna do because their kids won't be back in school yet but they'll be back in the building teaching and it creates a problem for childcare and etc. The 2nd conservative teacher who came in has school age children and he brought up the same concerns (the first guy is a bit older and his youngest child is a senior at a private school that is full in-person right now), and after he talks about how he's not sure what he'll do with his kids, he says....."I just don't see why I have to be in the building on the 28th if I'm not going to have students here, there's no benefit to it."

The older guy didn't speak up this time, but I could tell by the look on his face how salty he was that his fellow conservative in the department basically said the same thing I had said 30 minutes earlier

I know this is a personal story that no one will really care about but, yeah. I had to share that experience today. I got a decent amount of internal laughs about that when it happened. The End.

she just unironically and without any comment retweeted a Bloomberg news tweet regurgitating the bad NYPost story/headline.

she followed it up with some criticism in subsequent tweets but yeah, just her usual bullshit of boosting shit that shouldn’t be boosted.

 

Dropped off my ballot Monday night, got an email last night that it was received, Colorado has their shit together.
