I've been biting my tongue on this but I don't want to any longer. There's no way for me to put it that doesn't come off bitter.

Presuming the allegations against the Titans are all true and are essentially the NFL's parallel to the NCAA's "lack of institutional control." I'm not surprised this is the team that did it. The Patriots have been pushing the boundaries forever but they always have enough plausible deniability that they haven't really gotten hammered with punishment and that's fine, the past is the past and you almost have to give them credit for it

IMO, sooner or later, one of Belichick's disciples was going to be the one that tried to push the envelope on something while not being crafty enough to pull it off.

funny thing is, the Pats have been extremely careful about pandemic precautions haha. They probably know the NFL has eyes on them at all times because of everything they’ve been caught doing in the past

this isn't some wild, deeply rooted scandal - this isn't even 'pushing the envelope'. this is a team blatantly disobeying safety protocols during a global pandemic, and putting other people's lives at risk in the process. this isn't deflategate, or spygate, or whatevergate, this is a team making a dumb decision that could have absolutely disastrous consequences. you cannot compare this to anything the patriots have done before.

 

I think the idea I was trying to put into better terms, and still can't, is:

I'm not surprised two guys who got their start as a scout (Robinson) and played most of their career (Vrabel) for a team that was like "eh, fuck rules it's only cheating if you get caught" would then be the ones that applied that logic to the wrong set of rules. Obviously protocol related to a public health crisis is entirely different than video taping a walkthrough.
