My sister just told me my 7 year old niece just got isolated at school. She has a low grade fever and some allergy issues. My sister thinks this is a non-issue. (shes an ER tech dealing with this shit every day)

Damn it's almost like opening schools was always a horrible idea from the start or something who could have ever predicted truly

 

Especially doing so after you start opening restaurants and bars. Who knew figuring out how to stop and airborne viral pandemic could be so hard?

 

The "Mommy Needs A Drink" club HAD to get together at the bars as soon as they opened..what else did they think was going to happen?

It's just incredible that all the resources that have been wasted on the complete folly of returning students to in-person schooling could have instead been put towards improving schools' ability to provide quality distance learning instead. Every state government had literally all summer to do the right thing and instead they did the exact opposite of what should've been done. The carelessness with which our leaders are sacrificing children and young adults to the virus is pretty much the worst thing imaginable. Many of these kids will have permanent life-altering health impairments as a result of this.

 

The private school my wife teaches at finally gave each classroom a hand sanitizer dispenser last week. 6 weeks into the school year... And the teacher's back-to-school "care package" included 1 (one!) disposable mask and a little bag of candy. Soooo yeah... Everything's fucked up.

 

Jfc, at least provide a reusable mask that can be washed at the end of the day

 

Right?! They could only find a couple boxes of disposable masks because everything else was sold out, because the school's principal didn't start looking into all this stuff until the week before school started... Even as kids were coming into school the first day, they were still trying to figure out how to section off a part of the school for kids who say they're feeling sick... Obviously, my wife is stressed out of her mind every day. Haha ugh....

Somehow there hasn't been an official case at the school yet. Although last week there were a couple kids who went home sick/got tested/have siblings at home that got tested positive. So it feels like it's only a matter of time now until they decide to do remote learning for a couple weeks, at least. But with her school's principal being completely careless, who knows...
