I'm very excited to see what Reznor/Ross do for Soul. I presume there'd have to be some jazz influence, which could be very cool.

 

yeah, same with mank. could see them trying to do somewhat of a period piece, instrument-wise. could be interesting.

However I'm dreading the activation of the Hot-Take Machine regarding the quality of Citizen Kane.

I liked this more when it was "unpopular".

Cause it's straight up not a bad opinion that Steve Lukather is a better guitarist than most of the famous guitar heroes you could name. He just gets underrated because 1. lots of session work and 2. Toto aren't "cool"

 

Johnny Cash's version is incredible, but it is not better than the original. It's stark and minimal in totally different ways and every bit as haunting.

I just listened to the original Hurt again, which is a feat because I’d describe it as unlistenable

 

I prefer Johnny Cash's version but that's due to it soundtracking a certain Person Of Interest sequence perfectly.
