Dean Cameron, who I am now watching in Rockula and of Summer School/Ski School, is now a hardcore libertarian! The more you know!

    Also:
Is the inventor of the Bill of Rights: Security Edition cards, which are sturdy, playing card size, pocket-sized sheets of metal with the first Ten Amendments to the Constitution printed on them. These cards are for those who are frequent fliers on commercial airliners, considering that they can set off the airport metal detectors. The idea is that, if federal inspectors and workers find these cards, one will have to give up his Bill of Rights when searched before boarding a plane. With the exception of the Fourth Amendment which is printed in red, all the other nine amendments are printed in black.

He’s actually a personal friend of mine on Facebook. Him and Richard Horvitz from Summer School have a weekly YouTube series that’s pretty funny.

Just treated myself to Halloween & Halloween II double feature at the drive-in. I watch the original every year, but don’t think I’ve seen II in at least ten.

I have a lot of conflicting feelings on it. The first half hour is great, the mid-section is pretty weak, and then the last third is just okay. Still think 4 is the best (most fun) sequel.

  9. Boy, I love Halloween II, honestly think it's just as good as the first film but in a totally different ways. What a perfect double feature though!

This weekend the drive is playing Scream/The Ring and Rocky Horror/Little Shop on another screen. Sadly I’ll be in Michigan and miss them. :(

The feeling of intense ever looming evil, especially in a hospital setting, is done perfectly by Carpenter again. Iconic kills, Michael in frame but never once in a vulnerable position until the end, etc. all good.

Unfortunately he was rushed to make the film and didn’t feel great about it at all. It depended too much on b-level actors to carry the movie through meandering side character decisions, because JLC wasn’t available for long and also shot all her scenes with that terrible wig on.

The actual plot line (Loomis trying to find him after shooting him/making the connection they’re related) only serves roughly 25 minutes of the movie. Pretty sure Laurie Strode is on screen for a total of like 15 minutes tbh.

A local drive in is showing Christine and The Blob. I don’t think I’ve seen either of them

Yeah, I think the big problem for me is we're constantly seeing Michael kill people in the hospital in the second act, but not in a particularly frightening way. It's really glaring after the first film, which mounts tension so perfectly, where as the kills here don't really build. I think it could have been executed better if we see less of that, because it really makes no difference to the characters-- do they even really notice anything malicious is going on until there's three of them left? Having them uncover the bodies towards the build up to the final act would've worked better, I feel.

Also, I know there's some logic jumps in the first Halloween, but Michael breaking into the school to write Samhain in blood on the wall just struck me as funny. So did the kid just aimlessly walking around downtown Haddonfield with a boombox on his shoulder blaring... the local news? I think Michael could have deduced where they took her without that scene and the audience would have no issue with it, haha.

Yep, the school scene sticks out like a sore thumb. I’m also not crazy about the fact that ZERO other patients in the hospital make an appearance outside of the boy who’s mouth is cut open towards the beginning.

The Blob would be great to see at a drive in! I bought the soundtrack on vinyl a year or so ago and I listen to it a bunch while reading

The Faculty, Rosemary’s Baby and NotLD are my top picks for this list. The latter’s 90’s remake with Tony Todd remains a favorite for me of all time.

  19. I'll have to check out the 90s remake after I watch the original, for sure.

You're definitely gonna have fun with The Faculty. American Psycho is one of my favorites too. Not sure if the internet has sullied it for you, though.

What was the terrible American Psycho sequel with Mila Kunis in it? That one is god awful and I just forgot it existed until just now.

  22. I haven't read much of anything but a short synopsis about American Psycho, so I'm going into it with verrrry little knowledge.
