Yeah I watch Krampus every year and this showed me how heavily influenced it was by this. Already looking forward to the double feature!

Really excited for Bly Manor, especially now that I can follow along with everyone in discussions this time around. I hope we'll be getting more Victoria Pedretti; I feel like Hill House focused too much on Steven. Also looking forward to seeing Rahul Kohli. I'm looking at the cast list and I notice that Alex Essoe is on there; she was in Flanagan's film Doctor Sleep, which I also loved. I haven't seen any of Flanagan's other films, but it's cool to see that he reuses actors.

I think if hill house were five episodes, I wouldn't have hated it

  5. I didn't hate the first episode but it was more of the slow, drab Flanagan stuff that I know I lot of people really enjoy but is just kind of a slog for me to get through

  6. I think I gravitate more towards the dramatic elements of the show, which, yeah, can be kind of a slog.

Silver Bullet was fun. On The Howling now. Dick Miller is fucking incredible in everything he's in

  11. Wound up grabbing the Purge collection because as dumb as the premise is, the three after the original are surprisingly entertaining and self-aware slices of action horror. Even have some solid politics behind them, the First Purge in particular.

we've seen the shadow of the axe before Supporter

With the first one being so bad, I’m glad they continued making them. Frank Grillo is the man.

One of my favorite modern franchises. They’re a good time and I even like the series.

first purge is really fun despite some overpowered dumb moments!

I accidentally left my Sleepaway Camp Scream Factory Blus at my friend's house like...3 years ago and just realized they weren't in my collection. Looked up the prices online for 2-3 and HOLY SHIT! Invaders From Mars is also going for a ridiculous amount, so is Vampire's Kiss.

Night of the Comet and Night of the Creeps were both fantastic. Made for a great double feature.

The Howling was fun...but I honestly enjoyed Silver Bullet more. I have a soft spot for Busey, and the storyline/setting of that grabbed me more. No doubt the Howling has better effects

  17. Yeah, I remember thinking the Howling was good, not great (expected a little more from a Joe Dante film) but also that ending scene stuck with me and I really want to rewatch it soon.

I enjoy the Purge movies a good deal too. The first one was pretty shit, but everything since has been a lot of fun.

you like the purge series but dislike Flanagan???
    whats wrong with you man

  20. Different strokes for different folks. I just prefer fun movies ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  21. Also I really liked Hush and Gerald's Game stuck with me. I just think he's super one note, not unlike James Wan. There's plenty of slowburn A24 stuff I love, but at the end of the day, I like my horror trashy. Blumhouse for life

  22. I'm like halfway into the original Purge and you know what? Even for being the least self-aware of the bunch, there's actually a lot of interesting ethical issues. It's literally the upper class hunting the poor, a family wrestling with whether to give up the person hiding in their home, and on top of that, Ethan Hawke's character grappling with selling people faulty security systems.

"Things like this aren't supposed to happen in this kind of neighborhood."

It's not subtle, but I think it's quite a bit more interesting than people assume.

purge election day has to be one of the worst movies i’ve ever seen in a theater, while still being moderately fun
