Can't wait until a year from now where Microsoft owns every game studio under the sun because monopolies are cool.

Microsoft doesn't care about things like that staying exclusive, they make more money off it being multiplatform.

There’s no way Microsoft paid 7.5 billion just to get these games on Game Pass day and date. They’ll honour the contracts in place and the games currently in development will still come to other platforms, but I find it very hard to believe after that they’ll continue operating as they are now. I could see some of the big titles (Fallout, Elder Scrolls, etc) going forward come to other platforms at later dates, but no chance Microsoft doesn’t use this to their advantage.

MS would be foolish to make Elder Scrolls or Fallout exclusive to Xbox, that’s too much money on the table to deny for exclusivity.

This is one of the reasons I don't like Microsoft. For all the good stuff they do, this rubs me the wrong way. They can just legitimately buy their way into any situation they want. It's pretty sleazy and worrisome. Because they bought the parent company as well. They can really do whatever they want with all their money.

I mean they could just buy Sony too lol but to their credit they never tried

Just an FYI. They announced this deal the day before pre-orders go live for their new consoles.

You make future instalments of games like Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Doom, etc timed Xbox exclusives, “play it first on Xbox,” and you sell a lot of hardware.

We don't know they've never tried. I don't think Sony would ever go for it because Sony is much more than just a game developer, etc.

Lmao Microsoft owning those is hilarious. I’m sure the games will still be multiplat but I’d bet they’ll be timed exclusives for Xbox now. About time Xbox had something like that.

MS has always done this in the past so I don’t see why it’s worth being mad about it.

I don’t think they want to frankly, like you said Sony encompasses way too much stuff they don’t give a shit about

For someone like me, who genuinely doesn't care about 90% of Bethesda's games. This won't affect me, but it's certainly a thing to keep in mind when you notice the trend of how many studios they've purchased in the past few years.

This deal was 7 billion dollars. That's 3 billion more than what Disney paid for Star Wars.

Microsoft can do whatever they want.

I’ll say it again, no way Microsoft spent 7.5B on this and still allow future titles to launch on their direct competition day and date.

idk i think the deal has more to do with gamepass and xcloud to push the brand more then anything

  23. 333 GANG

That’s no doubt part of it, but you don’t spend 7.5B to get these games on Game Pass day one. That’s an absurd amount of money.

but nowhere dose it say they are making all future games xbox only. they have deals and agreements they still have to honor and im sure games already announced will see ps5 releases. i think it wont be till after the release of elder scrolls 6 titles go xbox only if that ever even happens but i highly doubt it

They would be leaving money off the table by omitting platforms. They could push Game Pass and mention that you get these games for $0.00*. Could also leave the prices at the full $69.99 permanently on PS5. It would take a long time to recoup that cost if they omit PS5.

having marketing being Xbox only will go a long way to bolster their brand too and entice others.
