Already like it more than I did yesterday, but I'm not gonna lie, I don't love how Chino's screams sound here. Kinda the part that reminded me of SNW the most.

 

I’m cool with the screams. There are a few really deep, distorted ones that seem to stand out on Genesis that sound badass. Lyrics are great.

Just realized this came out exactly 8 years ago today

It feels both like a lifetime ago and yesterday for some reason, but I still remember how blown away I was at the time. Watching the forum freak out was fun as well.

 

Yep^ remember I was living in So Cal att, and was obsessed with the song. Was so happy to have a quick turnaround after DE.

 

8 years?! I mean, I guess I knew that, but dang... I'm getting old.

 

My overriding memory was that first drop at 40 seconds absolutely scaring the shit out of me. As I imagine it did everyone else.

 

Listened today. Loved it. Already know I’m gonna love this album a lot more than Gore. Really dig the SNW vibes.

 

That and people mentioning the intro sampling LOST's theme is how I then got into the show

 

Just reading the Metal Hammer review for this - it says that This Link Is Dead is "probably the most out-and-out brutal Deftones have sounded since When Girls Telephone Boys..."

Man that gets me drooling. WGTB is probably in my top 2 of S/T. That track is straight violent.

 

They need to bookend their career with Terry Date. So three more albums please.

 

it's heavy but it's not WGTB heavy - the comparison that review is making might be more towards how Chino's screams sound

 

I think about the opening of "Swerve City" minimum twice a day.

 

Telephone is heavier when considering the full scope of their discography, but not their heaviest overall sounding track. Would probably give that to Leathers or Doomed User.
