Idk much pre-Red era Taylor but I think IDSB, LWYMMD, gorgeous, and bad blood all have a strong case for the worst that I know, with LWYMMD probably my least favorite for just how well it concentrates and doubles down on the absurdity and awkward edginess of the record as a whole. Without the features I think there’s a wonderful song to be made from Taylor’s parts in End Game so I like listening to that one until Ed starts.

I don’t get the hate for ME. It’s an average song at best but there isn’t anything particularly cheesy or cringe-y about it that isn’t far surpassed somewhere else in her discog.

  2. I don't get what Gorgeous did to y'all, that song is adorable

  5. End Game absolutely knocks, but I get that it’s not really what people want from Taylor

Alright I've decided my hot take. Dress is the worst Taylor Swift song

Idk why, it's never done anything for me

The only song I actually like off "Reputation", hahahahahaha

So crazy to see so many wildly opposite opinions on all her songs

Think what I love about "Dress" the most is the main synth line used throughout the song; to me it's very Bleachers-esque, and adding her breathy vocals on top really elevates the song for me

“False God” does such a better job than “Dress” that I’m excited to hear what the next song down that path is.

  18. I love the chorus in Speak Now, but yeah the rest of that one is pretty underwhelming

The best part about Speak Now the song is how Taylor is like rolling her eyes like UGH THE "LOVELY BRIDE TO BE" UNINVITED ME like the bride is a jerk for it or something. Like yeah sis ur hiding behind the curtains like a weirdo and U CAME TO INTERRUPT HER WEDDING like girl. Girl.

I don't have a personal connection to either set of lyrics, but I actually think "Dress" is a better written song from both a lyrical and musical perspective. (That "ah-ah-ah" hook in the prechorus, oh man. Actually, the whole prechorus is an incredible example of communicating a specific feeling through musical choices).

That said, the horns and #mood production of "False God" are so fresh and undeniable to me. It's like she heard a Marian Hill song and was like "oh, I can do that." I want to know what her next step is... would love her version of "If I Believe You" by The 1975.

*reads past two pages of opinions* i’m tired

imo: “innocent” is for sure the worst song on speak now and we would not be missing out on a ton of essential material had taylor decided to never write about kanye

if there’s a boring taylor swift song “sad beautiful tragic” isn’t it. slocore mazzy star t swift by definition is highly unboring. it would not sound out of place in a live set of folklore songs

“bad blood” is awful and people who like it only have themselves to blame for “me!”

reputation fucking rocks including/especially “look what you made me do”

*”story of us” voice* the end

I mean, there are songs of hers that I straight up don’t like that I can still sing every word of. She’s just damn good, even when she’s doing something I don’t like to hear from her.
