I hope Doucoure goes beast mode in that Everton team, as I have put him in my FPL starting XI !!!

Everton definitely look like they won the transfer window this summer.

An 85 rating seems fine for him lol. He was docked 1 point for scoring that o.g. in the EL final :crylaugh:

Not yet. We need a new RB and LW to do that...again!

It was OTT with "just" Ziyech, Werner, Chilwel, Sarr and Thiago Silva. Havertz at around £90m should have been the end of it. There is no way you can bridge a gap of 30+ points on Liverpool after a single transfer window - which seems to be the expectation of a lot of people commenting on social media even without the new GK and Rice - but spending £300million in one window is just A) setting Lampard up to fail, and B) an outrage to me, as it goes against everything I want football to be.

If United sign Sancho their attack is already back to being better than ours anyway, so unless this new keeper is a miracle worker CFC will be fighting it out with them for 3rd again despite showing their damn ass and spending money even PSG would be ashamed of.

  9. Honestly, Bergwijn was pretty strong for us last season despite not having time to settle into the PL style of play. If he makes a little progression, I don't think the Chelsea front 3 is any better than Spurs.

Son - Kane - Bergwijn is probably about equal to Pulisic - Werner - Ziyech right now. That could change, either way, depending how Werner and Ziyech adapt to PL. I'm assuming they will be strong but you never know until they get out there and play.

Chelsea's midfield certainly looks stronger right now, though, even if Havertz doesn't play like a 90m player. Everyone thought Ndombele was a fantastic buy and he has been a rollercoaster. If we want top 4 we really need him to live up to the hype. If he does, the midfield will be much stronger, but still a little behind Chelsea even without Rice coming in.

Both teams have shaky backlines, but I'm hoping Doherty makes a noticeable difference for us.

We have very little depth though.

  14. Assuming Liverpool and City are the top 2 again, the other 4 of the big 6 will all have a legit shot at those last 2 spots. And speaking specifically to depth, I'd say Chelsea have the most due to so many of their young players getting heavy minutes last season.

With the money they’ve spent Chelsea really should be challenging City and Liverpool.

Honestly, yeah. They’ve improved in every position on the pitch. If they still struggle defensively and are stuck scrapping for third or fourth I think he’ll go.

  18. I still don't think their squad is as strong as Liverpool or City.

A bit of City bias here but what leads everyone to believe Liverpool will be able to maintain this?

I definitely see a HUGE drop off for them. I see Chelsea challenging more for the title. Am also seeing Man U make somewhat of a play at some point.

  20. The only reason I see Liverpool falling off a bit is because of their depth and lack of re-investment this window.

BUT....I also think people are reading too much into their play after the restart. They looked a bit lackadaisical but considering they already had the league won and were playing in such weird conditions because of the pandemic, I think it's understandable. I expect them to still challenge City. I mean, they were 20+ points ahead of second place. They will be fine.

Any podcast recs for PL or footy in general?

Edit: and I guess I'm looking for something with week to week match/player performance reviews and discussions.

Listened to the Guardian's Football Weekly Premier League Preview Pod and someone on it had Arsenal 3rd and Wolves 4th, with Chelsea and Man United out of the top 4. Thought that was a kind of a wild prediction.
