this album and Deftones on the same day is gonna be wonderful.

 

This is the first metal show within a two hour drive that's been announced for me within the last six months, and I still have no desire to go. Sigh.

 

Getting to see GWAR headline a night at TIHC Fest in Philly will forever go down as one of my favorite show memories. I saw them once more after then before Brockie’s passing.

 

Gwar isn't a band I'd particularly want to watch from my car.

 

I have no desire to consume a show in any other way than in person. (Most) livestreams do absolutely nothing for me, I do not care to see five people in five different rooms performing a song together, I do not want to do a drive in show, idk I am willing to wait to be able to consume live music how it was intended to be.

 

I have no problem with livestreams if they're done well like what Code Orange did at the beginning of the pandemic or what Behemoth supposedly did this past weekend with their livestream with pyro and Cirque Du Soleil acrobatics (Nergal will never get another dime from me, but that's a different story). If a band wants to make it a cinematic experience, I might throw a few bucks their way. If they want to do a studio performance like what One Step Closer did with hate5six a few weeks ago, I'm all for that too. None of this is going to replace live music, but it's a decent panacea in the meantime.

But yeah, I'm not going to a drive-in show unless it's for someone like Buddy Guy or the local philharmonic that I'm okay with just chilling and sitting down to. Most of the music I listen to is meant to be enjoyed loudly, close up, and while avoiding stage divers.

 

Shit from earlier this year that I missed. Damn, this is a good album. FFO Tomb Mold, Blood Incantation, Demilich.

 

Agree with all of this.

I've paid for a few streams. Some were better than others. I'll probably pay for a few more, but it's not a replacement for a a live show.
