Really my only problem with Wonderful Wonderful is that I do not like the title track really at all. That it's the opener is a bummer.

I don't like the first three songs at all on WW. I almost forget that I like the rest of the album a decent amount.

I listened to Day and Age today and it's better than it is in my head but I feel like so much of the lyrics are nonsense. At least that album gave me my favorite Killers song Dustland Fairytale.

I have a very complicated relationship with Day & Age. It’s on my good side right now. Definitely liking it and appreciating it more now than I did, say, five years ago.

I do genuinely love the above artwork.

I like Wonderful Wonderful the album a decent amount and think WW the song is alright. I am not crazy about "The Man" and I strongly dislike "Have All The Songs Been Written?" which was a huge bummer because I was really excited about Mark Knopfler playing guitar on one of their songs and also it's the closer. I do love the bonus track from the album "Money On Straight" though.

I feel like when I look at the 59’ Sound album cover I feel all sorts of things because of the memories associated and that it’s probably my favorite album of all time. So like, seeing it makes me feel very good. However, not sure if I “like” the cover itself lol. I think that makes sense?

I will say I agree with @Brother Beck Sink or Swim’s art is actually pretty solid.

They’re one of my favorite bands so I really like all their albums to varying degrees. While I’m critical of Battleborn, I still think it’s really good and I have so many great memories attached to it. Wonderful Wonderful I’m probably the least attached to. I love the first 6 tracks a lot but it fizzles after that for me. Although seeing “The Calling” live made me like that one a lot more.

Just curious: what do you dislike about "Rut"? The first two tracks tend to be harder sells, but "Rut" is kind of wheelhouse Killers, IMO.

Hmm I admit error, Rut is one of the best songs on there. That and Run For Cover are the ones I could put on anytime for sure.

Maybe the first two songs just drag and FEEL like three songs to start the album? Haha

A big reason I like Wonderful Wonderful (song) is it's the closest in feel to Tranquilize, one of my favourite Killers tunes

Not a huge Killers guy (Probably only listened to Hot Fuss in full), but I really enjoyed this one.

With that being said, did anything more come regarding those allegations a few weeks back?

Yeah, there was an investigation and report that seemed to definitively disprove the specific assault allegation. The band is still using it as an opportunity to switch up their ability for crew members to safely report misconduct on tour.

I posted the text here, bolded the parts that made me personally feel reassured. Encourage you to read around this thread at that time, there are a few different pieces and follow-ups to it.

I'm listening to Battle Born again and... yeah, this doesn't have the heft of their best work. The singles are nice. Lot of plodding songs.

WW at least is them trying something different. It's not something I particularly enjoy, but it's unique within the Killers' catalogue at least. Tyson vs. Douglas and Rut are the only songs I come back to.

I'm not sold on Imploding really. It's catchy and all but it still feels slight somehow. It might be their most consistent album though (aside from Desired Effect).

This album keeps getting better. It may become my favorite Killers record but I really need to do another deep discography dive.

I'm probably in the minority that loves Wonderful Wonderful, but it's a very personal record for me because it spoke to a lot of the depression I was feeling at the time and came out a few days before my buddy committed suicide. The Killers was his favorite band. I don't think he ever got around to listening to it, but I remember thinking how much the musical and lyrical content might have helped him if he ever did.

The story behind the record and my life context when it came out makes it a very powerful record for me. I can't really listen objectively.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

yeah I've never given this band much time but I put this on a few weeks ago and like five hooks from it have been rotating through my head ever since lol

been going back to listen to the old stuff the last few days. I definitely slept on Sam's Town, that album wrecks

yeah Sam's Town is probably the best one and "Read My Mind" is still the best Killers song.

yeah in retrospect not really sure how I skipped an album with "Read my Mind" and "When You Were Young" as singles lmao

    Sending my love

The KIllers are a band where every album has a chunk of songs I absolutely love, and the rest of the songs I am *completely* indifferent to whatsoever. So I pretty much like all of their albums based on that.

Battle Born was a very special album for me. I had always liked the Killers, ever since I saw them perform on SNL during Hot Fuss, but Battle Born was the album cycle that I really became a full Killers fan. I remember Runaways coming out and how I fell so hard for that song. I don't think it's their best album but there are so many good songs on it - The Way It Was, Miss Atomic Bomb, and the title track especially. It was also the first time I saw The Killers live. Pretty sure hearing Mr. Brightside into All These Things That I've Done as the last songs before the encore changed my life.

Wonderful Wonderful, like pretty much all of their albums, has a ton of songs that I truly love. The title track, Run for Cover, Tyson vs. Douglas, and The Calling. (Holy fuck, THE CALLING!!!!) I got to see The Killers a few different times during WW, in pretty much every size venue from 2,500 up to a festival of 40,000. They were absolutely at the top of their game during the Wonderful Wonderful Tour (interesting considering 50% of the core band had nothing to do with it...)

Imploding the Mirage so far very much seems the same for me - I love half of it and the other half is totally just fine.
