I like Outer South fine, but it's the weakest BE/CO record since maybe Collection.

I like Salutations more than Ruminations and probably prefer Salutations to Upside Down Mountain, but it's kind of splitting hairs. Conor Oberst is the best solo record.

self titled is pretty undeniably the best, can't imagine liking Conor and BE without loving s/t

Any song on that record other than "Valle Mistico (Ruben's Song)" could be someone's favorite and I wouldn't fight it.

    Trusted

I actually get "Get Well Card" vibes on a few of the new BE songs, Dance & Sing and Calais to Dover come to mind.

    Re-worked

Conor Oberst > Ruminations > Upside Down Mountain > Outer South > Salutations

Ruminations > Salutations for sure. The full band arrangements do nothing for me and the additional songs make it bloated (and not in the good way that a lot of classic BE is). S/T is great, but I’d put Ruminations over it. I don’t like either Mystic Valley album at. all.

you confuse me, s/t IS one of the two MVB albums.

People get this confused because "technically" the two MVB albums are Outer South and One of My Kind (which is a collection/soundtrack disguised as an album). S/T is basically a MVB album but they're not included as part of the artist.

Ruminations > S/T > Upside Down Mountain > Outer South > Salutations > One of My Kind

would put one of my kind ahead of salutations/ruminations just for the title track.

Oh I wouldn't consider that one of the albums, it's mostly all demos and b sides

Yes but it’s title track is better than anything on Outer South so...quagmire

It puts up a fight, so does I Got the Reason, but they ultimately lose for reasons I can’t explain

I would be interested to hear a version of White Shoes in the vein of the reprise on One of My Kind. Wonder if that exists somewhere.

There's plenty of good stuff on Outter South, even the non Conor stuff is underrated
