The part where she goes into the basement(?) is one of the creepiest things I've ever read and I hope it's in the movie.

Magnolia is my least favorite PTA but it’s still pretty good.

I like it less and less each time I watch it. At this point, there are scenes that I absolutely love but as a whole, I’m not a fan.

It’s bizarre with a capital B. I don’t know if I was ready for the level of moroseness Kaufman dishes out with this (I wasn’t as big of a fan of “Anamolisa,” though I admire it and I didn’t read the book).

The cast is amazing. The directing is likely the most ambitious thing we’ll see this year. I really don’t know how to put all of the parts of this together to make for a cohesive movie (the Youtube breakdowns will be plentiful). But it’s worth watching if you’re a Kaufman or Jessie Buckley fan.

I think Anomalisa is basically perfect so you have my attention lol

For sure. I have friends that consider it his masterpiece. It just didn't hit me the way it did for them. I think that likely may be the case for this as well. I liked it, but didn't love it. I absolutely admire Kaufman's direction and him interpreting what sounds like a book that's difficult to translate to the screen. Same for the cast. I can't imagine what directions they were given for navigating their characters through this, but they're all great (Buckley for the Oscar, I say.)

So I guess what I'm saying is it's a fascinating kind of mess that will connect with others harder than it did me. But I did enjoy it, in as much as someone can enjoy a movie like this.

Poor baby, you're starting to lose it.

I wanna read this book before seeing the film!

Anomalisa is one of those films that just came along at the right time in my life and absolutely destroyed me. I still think its simplicity and openness are astonishingly affecting, and I have trouble watching it sometimes, but it's one of my favourite films

You don't need any primer, I don't think. They're not connected in any way other than small things unexpectedly change in the first act and just ramp up from there.
