  1. It's not just you - the problem is massive. If you asked most folks whose existence didn't necessitate them noticing such things, most people would see a room of 10 folks with 8 white men, 1 non-white man and 1 white woman as being diverse.

And like, I get it. But it absolutely sucks, especially when you're none of those things.

i mean if we’re naming bands, I’d love Camp Cope and Proper. to get a go at Slam Dunk or Trees to be honest.

no way Camp Cope play a festival co/headlined by fucking Don Broco though, and Proper are just too small to get ANY pull sadly.

    Yes, of course.

(Not you, but) it is so strange that people are commenting about a lack of women and POC without actually looking into any of these bands. Like, sum 41, NOFX and Billy Talent are all massive bands. I think festivals in this scene should definitely invite more diverse lineups, but claiming there are no women or people of colour on this lineup is just lazy

  4. Edit: I saw exactly one person say there were none, and they were promptly corrected.

    Second...are you serious?

  5. I have a bunch of meetings starting in less than 10 minutes so I'm just gonna leave this here again and hope the comments are more helpful by the time I get back.

No one here (Edit: except one person who was corrected) was even claiming there are no women/people of color on the lineup, we were saying how the lineup is OVERWHELMINGLY white males, which is true. For all the bands filled with white makes in them (nearly all of the lineup), there were tons of bands with women, people of color, and other marginalized folks who were probably never asked to play, despite being well qualified.

@Anna Acosta comment above is also a really good way to explain this, people will do the bare minimum and think that’s enough representation. If you wanna talk about something being lazy, it’s that.

So which is it? Is he out of the band or not?

  9. Maybe he left but was filling in? Either way, having him on camera is a pretty clear demonstration that regardless, they're not concerned about the whole point of de-platforming abusers and predators and feel no duty to provide context even if it does harm. Disappointing.

The way they handled it has been awful. From not making it clear whether he is out of the band for years to making a brief remark claiming he is on an Instagram reply (not the best place IMHO) to having him on camera with the band in April (virtually still counts), they’ve done a terrible job making it clear what his status in the band is and has been.

Quick thing back to the Pierce the Veil case, it's funny that they made this comment that he left in 2017 as a comment on instagram, the very place they were removing comments to people asking about the allegations back during the time period!

That one I included purely because someone else in the thread said they did. I have never listened to that band in my life, I won't lie.
