I rarely ever even use a computer, but I use Safari exclusively on my iPad and iPhone. Never had any real problems with it and it’s always reliable.

 

Safari is the superior web browser and it’s not even close

 

Does anyone in here use the Health app a lot? My gf and I are trying to get healthier and I’m curious what I can do with this app and what others use it for.

 

I religiously put music on my phone until I started talking more pictures with it, now I just stream my music library from Plex. I suppose it is worse but it's a sacrifice I can make right now.

A new iPod Classic would be cool, obviously it would have flash storage (hopefully also USB C/headphone jack/etc) and hopefully they'd preserve the same interface more or less but make the specifics of the aesthetics modern Apple, that would be neat. But it would be like Sony re-releasing a cassette Walkman, basically a novelty.

 

Does anyone use Apple Radio? I find some of the content potentially interesting (e.g. Mark Hoppus, Zane Lowe interviews etc).

However, i find it so frustrating the lack of features. Basically, i am annoyed it doesnt have the features of a podcast app. Mark’s two hour radio show that doesn’t remember your place if you end up listening to something else or let you jump songs without having to manually try and time it. I think i remember even just giving up on the zane Lowe interview with Hayley Williams for the same reasons. I just find it a total turn off.

 

I wouldn’t say I use it a ton, but I recently discovered that it’s automatically logged all my runs since like 2018, so I use it now to keep track of my mileage every week. It helps for when I’m not sure how long a new route was, or for figuring out when it’s time to replace my shoes. I think if I had an Apple Watch I’d use it more.

 

What do people do if your MacBook Pro isn't large enough to back up your iPhone? My MacBook is ~250 GB and my iPhone backup is ~200 GB.

 

iCloud backup, or an external hard drive. I think you can get an external SSD for 50 bucks now.

 

I can’t wait until 2 TB external SSD’s become affordable, want to replace my 4 TB external spinning disk I always have plugged in.

 

I've just ditched Chrome since moving to Big Sur for Safari now it has proper extensions and some exciting new features. Since trying on the Big Sur version of Safari for video, my Mac has been so much more quiet which actually prompt me to switch.

So far so good. Fans are coming on less and overall performance seems a lot better.

 

Big Sur beta failed on me twice when trying to download and install. 2020 Pro. going to keep trying.

 

Failed again. Guess that's a sign.

 

My Touch ID on my MacBook Air was working the first day, now it won't even sense my fingerprint. When I tried to make a new one it won't sense a fingerprint on any of my fingers. Anyone have an idea what I can do?

 

Google produced this:

- Shut down your computer.
- Hit "Shift", "Control", "Option" and the power button all at the same time and hold it for 15-20 seconds. Nothing should happen, well, nothing that you will see anyway. (The key combination resets something with the Touch ID)
- Power on your computer normally and login as you usually would...now the Touch ID should work.

 

Tried that already, no luck. It's straight up not sensing my fingerprint? I've read some issues with the latest update that may have messed with it. Not the worst thing in the world I'll figure something out.

 

My phone is having the absolute worst time running the iOS public beta right now. Just trying to listen to overcast with airpods while browsing the forums until my work day ends, and either overcast or whatever makes Bluetooth work crashes OR my phone just restarts. I think it’s time for me to ditch the beta

 

Apparently Apple posted and then immediately deleted a "test" live stream event on YouTube that had a date of 9/10 on it

I guess last year's was on the same date, so they could just be messing around and someone used the old date as some dummy code.. or it could be a confirmation

I feel like a failure

 

I bought a WD MyPassport SSD external hard drive. A great but small and weird looking drive. It’s exFAT formatted so i can use across both windows and mac systems. The biggest annoyance about it is that the encryption software does not work with the iPad Pro.

 

$2 Trillion can only get you so far.

 

Apparently they’ve apologised and allowed updates again. That was definitely the right move here.
