Unbelievably happy that this tour is coming to Portland and it's at the best venue in town. Honestly shocked this is at a venue that's 2 and a half times the size of the venue the band's normally headline, but I'm happy it is. There is no way this will sell out and tickets are only 24 bucks at the box office. That's a crazy deal for how awesomely stacked this lineup is.

A Real Friends / Knuckle Puck Riot Fest after show would be cool since this tour isn't coming to Chicago.

Well, he posted a lengthy statement claiming to have witnesses that can corroborate her as being the aggressor but, curiously, none have come forward yet to my knowledge. Also, he couldn't help himself but to include unnecessary details like "she's trying to promote her solo career," "she was off her meds," and "her band hasn't been doing anything in a while," rather than just tell his story and point out where he has witnesses, which really undercuts his message considering those are classic abuser rationales ("She's doing it for attention" or "She's doing it because I broke her heart" etc.).

It's just another case of someone coming forward and the alleged abuser rushing to turn the tables on her. Until I see some actual evidence from him I tend to believe her story, as I usually do in these situations.

Yeah definitely safer to err on that side of the equation when in doubt.

There were two very unclear sides to that story so that's why you didn't hear much come of it. Seaway got rid of him and released a quick statement saying that this situation is between the Candy Hearts singer and their former tour manager. The only thing you can be upset at Seaway for is being associated with him and not doing anything(if they even knew about it), but he was also Candy Hearts manager at the time as well, and they did exactly what Seaway did, yet no one is calling them scummy.

glad this is coming to the Crystal, putting a river between me and this entire show.

for real though, it's going to be fucking sweltering in there

This lineup is seriously a damn dream lineup, I can't fathom how amazing this tour is. Also the Philly date is the day after I turn 25 so this will be amazing.

After the last tour I was hoping TWY would be more creative with their lineups from now on. I like all the bands on the tour, but it's a pretty standard pop-punk tour.

It's not going to be sweltering. I doubt this draws more than 1000 people so the venue will most likely be partially empty. It should be nice and comfy inside the venue. The Wonder would have been the perfect sized venue, but it was already booked. I'm just glad it's not at the Hawthorne. That would have been sweltering haha

off topic, but i hope the Candy Hearts thing doesn't totally fuck up their career. haven't seen them on any big tours in a bit, would be insanely shitty if this threw a wrench in their career

I mean, I'm open to him presenting all of these witnesses he talked about (from what his statement said, there were many and it was actually kind of a disturbing story) but he hasn't yet provided any proof. I'm not going to deny the accounts of impartial witnesses but we don't have them yet, so.

Because Seaway should have fired him as soon as they found out about the situation and just distanced themselves from it (whether he is telling the truth or she is). Instead, they didn't do anything until Mariel went public. That's not ok.

Candy Hearts has nothing to do with this, anyway, because they aren't on this tour.

Definitely not taking his side here but just because I'm ignorant to the details, what evidence did she present? All she mentioned on the podcast was that some people saw it but I didn't see anyone come forward to support her claims either.

Word, I guess I'm not super familiar with the fanbase sizes of these bands, I just assumed it would sell out. I had to shoot a 21 Pilots show there that sold out and it was a sauna.

Real talk about the Hawthorne though. The Joyce Manor/Mobo show was ridiculous

She didn't present any more evidence than he did. I just remain mostly in the center but err on the side of the alleged victim until I see hard evidence. Better to encourage people to litigate these accusations so that the truth can come out than shout down all accusers because sometimes they might be lying.

Agreed, pretty much sums up my thoughts as well. Your post only mentioned the lack of evidence on his side so I just wanted to clarify with respect to hers.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I only mentioned his lack of evidence because, in the statement he released, he made numerous references to there being "hundreds" of witnesses to her physically assaulting him at a merch table, said they would be coming forward "soon" and now months after that statement we haven't seen them.

Mariel said on Shane Told's podcast that they're going to be recording a new record soon and they're probably going to break away from the pop-punk scene. They were just taking some time off.

Don't listen to any of these supporting bands, but I try to make it out to most TWY shows in my area, so I guess I'll hit this up.
