Poltergeist is much more full sounding production wise. But the riffs in Doomed User rip cheeks

I like Gore just fine, but Hearts/Wires struck me as a weaker retread of half the tracks on S/T before my first listen was done, and that's never changed

  3. Some real Gore takes in here this morning...

It’s a great album just with a bad mix. The last three songs are perfect

are they even takes lol? it's basically just everyone saying the same thing. sounds like a consensus.

  7. consensus can be wrong!

lots of people in here love saturday night wrist, for example

  8. I forgot how hard the final 3 tracks on Gore go.

If there's anything there really isn't with Gore, it's a consensus.

  11. really the only consensus about Deftones is White Pony is their best record and even that gets debated a good amount haha

i mean we basically had a dozen people in this thread over the last two days say the same thing haha. that is a consensus. I'm not saying literally every human being who has ever listened to the album lol

  15. Gore may be in the latter half of their discography, but only because Diamond Eyes, White Pony, S/T, and Koi No Yokan exist.

We reach for the longest shadow

If I didn't have any nostalgia attached to White Pony, I think KNY would be my favorite. That take wouldn't surprise me at all from someone who discovered the band in the last 5 years.

if SNW is not at least a top 3 Deftones album for you I don’t trust you

I don't think you trust the vast majority of people in this thread, including me, haha

Here's a take: consensus around the best Deftones LP is impossible bc they perennially put out really good, 8/10 type records, but always fall short of a masterpiece. Anything from ATF on is a valid pick for their best depending on your stylistic preferences.

I did not come in this thread periodically just to talk about how Gore is my favorite of theirs for y'all to act like there's a consensus about it being "lower tier" Deftones. Our only real consensus is that Adrenaline is not their best lol
