my little brother's district finally decided to do all virtual. im moving out of the house in a couple weeks anyway, but still.

 

It’s especially pronounced now because of political polarization but really that’s just kind of how it is here. Not everybody votes, so among the people that do, people tend to be pretty split evenly along ideological lines. If we had 100% voter participation it might be different but...
The two party system plays a role as well, makes it into a binary choice which makes people pick a side and there’s a surprising amount of people out there who will pick sides based on how they’re feeling about the other side at that particular time.

 

She's been searching for another job the last month hoping something would shake out so we could avoid this, but ... no luck so far.

Two party system is definitely not ideal, at least if you ask me. So there is no chance that any third party candidate get a significant amount of votes?


In my country, we have multi-party system, but for the last 8 years, we pretty much have a dictator who controls all the media and win everything by more than 50% (If you have 20 political parties running, 50% is a lot).

Elections here became a joke in recent years. Bulgarian train is very common, and sometimes even dead people vote. There is a joke about a man sitting in front of the polling place on the election day. After few hours, somebody asked him what is he waiting for and he replied: "I'm waiting for my grandfather. He died 20 years ago, but he reappears every 4 years on election day"

 

This is a reaaaaaaaally bad “analysis” for so many obvious reasons the person posting it must know.
