Fall Out Boy, Offset, and Tyler, The Creator had him on their songs recently, so he's still relevant.

  2. I just read the whole article and I am fucking SEETHING. There are no words to express the sort of comeuppance I hope he gets. Absolute fucking scum.

Least surprising story ever regarding Mark. Figured it was going to come out eventually.

The Mark stuff reminds me a lot of when the Ryan Adams stuff came out. Somebody who has always seemed like a straight up terrible person confirms that they are in fact human garbage.

Mark has a known history of being misogynistic in his lyrics/discussion about women.

  8. I usually agree when people say shit like “their music sucks anyway”, but this is a little different imo. Kozelek is famously sus, and acknowledging that is in no way implying that he would be less disposable if he wasn’t

I've seen the name on Chorus as a thread title in the Music Forum but no I've never listened to it.

    Hey. Supporter

Am I hallucinating or was all of this discussed before and put on the backburner, per se? I remember listening to Phoebe’s cover of You Missed My Heart initially thinking it was her original and someone told me it’s Mark’s cover but he’s a piece of shit. I don’t listen to any of his music, so I don’t know anything about him, but I distinctly remember being told he’s an awful person in 2017.

  12. He had this, like, bizarre beef with Laura Snapes five years ago. There was also this needlessly petty shit from the previous year. The specific instances mentioned in the article have only come to light today but the 19-year-old he raped had a song written about her from his perspective a couple of years back. So it's new information.

  13. There was a lot of press over his comments about Laura Snape around 2015 and after. He certainly seems to have been an asshole and a misogynist for quite some time, but I would be lying if I said I equated that with "sex creep" or expected this to come out. A lot of his late 90s/early 00s work did a lot to quell my anxiety, so this definitely sucks (obviously way more for the victims than for myself or anyone else).

I wonder if phoebe says something about him like with Ryan, she willingly covered his song and took photos with him after the bullshit he did a few years ago, so she knew. “this is neither helpful nor necessary” This isn’t some breaking story, marks behavior has been everywhere since the 90s.

  15. I got similar deja vu when the Drake Bell news broke - even though I know these allegations are clearly new my first thought was "wait didn't this already happen"

Love it when people are consistently terrible

  16. Again, I can only speak for myself, but I knew he was an asshole. Not...any of this. And it seems like a pretty unfair leap to accuse Phoebe of knowing anything about this either, even if you don't agree with her covering his song.

she knew about pinegrove too (this is much worse) and said nothing and is still "friends" with evan/hypes his music. doesn't seem unfair at all.

Good for you. Literally nobody cares that you or anyone else was able to say “called it!!!!!” in the wake of a story like this coming out. And popping in just to do that is neither helpful nor necessary.

    Think this convo is unnecessary.

Fuck him, thought the way Pitchfork wrote about it was a bit weird, hope the survivors find peace and that he doesn’t hurt anyone else

How do we know Phoebe knew about Pinegrove (aside from the Pitchfork article)? Was there something I missed?

I would like to say it’s a dangerous slope to start that women have to be accountable for the men they associate with. It reeks of deflecting the blame to the “good” person and taunting their reputation by association. While Phoebe’s continued association with Pinegrove troubles me, I don’t think she needs to make a statement because she covered a Sun Kil Moon song once. Especially because I do think there’s something to women reclaiming the art of shitty men they used to idolize for themselves.

backed, and I know this is a small stretch since there weren’t like “officially” articles about Kozelek out back in 2013, but it’s a weird look to expect something from a woman that covered a song written by two men without even mentioning, y’know, the other man that wrote the song to begin with

edit: not to imply Jimmy needs to say anything, just saying that it’s odd to mention one without the other

I wanted to say something similar earlier but couldn’t find the right words, but both of you pretty much said in the best way what I was thinking and wanted to convey.
