Gonna throw my two dirty worthless pennies into this discussion: I find that album super tedious, but the way it ends makes it worth it. Those closing seconds are incredibly heartbreaking to me.

Great double album that hardly loses steam at any point: The White Album by the Beatles

You know I think Hypnotize/Mezmerize by System of a Down does double albums right

I've tried to get into it so many times and it just doesn't engage me at all. I think the most I enjoyed it was the first listen, and I wouldn't say I hate it, but it's almost completely disposable to me. Completely don't get why it has been so acclaimed, both here and elsewhere. It even landed on a bunch of mid-year lists from other publications.

Pinegrove album is good but yeah I don't get why some are calling it the best album of the year

That's kind of how I felt initially. Like the first handful of times I listened it was like "this is pleasant, but nothing spectacular." I thought Old Friends was the only song that stuck out to me really. I revisited it a couple months later, though, and it really clicked for me.

How something so emotionally charged and so deviously catchy can be called disposable is beyond me but hey bad opinions thread

I can see how people may not love the Pinegrove album, I don't really outside of a few songs, but I think it's obvious why so many do. The lyrics are great and they're the kind of band I can easily see people becoming super attatched to personally.

Plus "Size of the Moon", come on..

I mean, it seems like something that should have been a complete homerun with me. Elements of emo/scene bands mixed with folk and alt-country. Like, that's a no-brainer considering my tastes, right? And I do like things about it, like the crescendo out of the slow section in "Aphasia" and some of the lyrics. But for the most part, it doesn't draw me in musically and his voice bores me.

And it's awesome that you dig it. I know a lot of people on here do. @Chase Tremaine made a valiant attempt to change my mind about it a few months ago, with his mid-year blog about it. I just continue to be underwhelmed when I listen to that record.

    Maybe so, maybe not.

In this vein, I think "Waiting on You" is a top 3 Weezer song.

"Only In Dreams" and "Across The Sea" coming in at 1-2.

I agree with this almost exactly. Waiting on You woulda been a highlight had it made the album and the other two are clearly imo their best songs.

    And Bon Iver kinda sucks.
